Album Download: Moe Green Announces Release Of Unofficial Debut Album, Rocky Maivia

Acclaimed Bay Area Emcee And KMEL Freshmen 10 Pick Releases New LP As A Free Download

With a series of single and video leaks, Vallejo, California emcee Moe Green, has been building a steady following and buzz for his new album, Rocky Maivia: Non-Title Match. As Moe Green and his label, Interdependent Media, take a bold step forward with the rapper's first supported release, starting today fans can download the entire album free of charge on Green's bandcamp page.

For Moe Green, the move is a simple matter of strategy. "Why would I make somebody pay for the new guy when they're already getting their favorite rapper's work for free," says Moe as he cites recent material from Wiz Khalifa, Rick Ross, Curren$y, and others. While a wave of support is growing around the budding rapper, including recently being named to KMEL's 2010 Bay Area Freshmen 10 class, Moe Green and Interdependent media look to continue to capitalize on the early buzz, giving listeners the chance to get their hands Moe's music hassle free. The internet isn't the only place that benefits from free music. If you are in the Bay Area you can pick up a free CD at selected stores while supplies last. In San Francisco, fans can grab the album from Amoeba, while in Berkeley and Moe's hometown, Vallejo, supporters can find the album at Rasputins.

Nods of approval have been rolling in for the artist's leaked tunes "Non-Title Match" and the scorching "Going In For The Kill". The build-up to the album was also bolstered by the video for "Ride," directed by Chris Kiker, giving viewers a tour around Vallejo. The album is replete with tracks that illustrate where the 22-year old Green is as an artist and a young man. "Emerald City" discusses the hardships of being a new artist, where skipping meals, and spending savings on recording time are the risks and realities of trying to make it. "Day Dreamer," featuring songstress Raygen Fykes, offers more insight to Green's life and dreams over a dusty drum loop, while the similarly forward-looing "Keep It Moving (KIM)" finds Moe highlighting the need for perseverance, focusing on the ultimate goal rather than being consumed with the inconsequential.

The album gains its name from superstar wrestler/actor The Rock - Rocky Maivia served as The Rock's moniker when he first debuted in the ring. Green sees his debut album as the Rocky Maivia phase in his own career. "It's a metaphor for the newcomer with great potential entering the professional leagues," says Green. The album's title may actually have more meaning right now as Moe Green finds himself already a budding star complete with fan and industry support. The album finds an artist utilizing little more than his dreams to make things happen as the fuel to create a dense and expertly produced set that can hold its own among releases from other members of hip-hop's emerging talent.

Apollo Brown - "Balance" Feat. Kenn Starr & John Robinson (download)

Off his latest musical brainchild, The Reset, Apollo Brown delivers yet another triumph in sonic production. "Balance," narrated by emcees Kenn Starr and John Robinson, is an otherworldly musical composition. The beat cooks low and slow with an orchestral bass line and swirls with synthesized harmonics that elevate the track to a unique frequency. "I really wanted this song to take the listener somewhere when they hear it," notes Brown. "Some people call it a dreamscape sound. It's just thought provoking life music to me." The sixteen bar verses dropped by Starr and Robinson are well chiseled models of deft lyricism; however, the prime cut from this beast is Brown's beat construction that effortlessly throws listeners off balance in this ironically titled track. "Balance" is up for grabs on Apollo Brown's album, The Reset.

24 July 2010 - International Sakine Ashtiani Mohammadi Day

Citizens of the World against Stoning!

We, the undersigned, are extremely concerned about the fate of 43 year old Sakine Ashtiani Mohamadi and fear she may be executed in Iran at any time for ‘having an illicit relationship.’

We call on people everywhere to intensify their protests by marking Saturday 24 July as the International Sakine Ashtiani Mohammadi Day. On the Saturday, we ask you to come out on to the streets and in city centres across the globe at 2pm local time bringing photos of Sakine and messages in her defence and against stoning and execution. Other measures that can be taken include highlighting her case wherever possible, signing the petition (http://stopstonningnow.com/sakine/sakin284.php?nr=50326944〈=en), joining rallies, and keeping pressure on the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The mother of two has already received 99 lashes and been sentenced to death by stoning. Sajjad, her 22-year-old son, who raised the alarm of her imminent stoning when there was no further legal recourse via an open letter to the people of the world (http://stopstonningnow.com/sakine/sakin284.php?nr=50326944〈=en) and said ‘there is no justice’ in Iran (http://iransolidarity.blogspot.com/2010....se.html) has been summoned to the Ministry of Intelligence for his brave efforts to secure his mother’s freedom.

As a result of the public outcry, the embassy of the Islamic regime of Iran in London has issued a press release stating that the regime did not intend to stone her, that stoning in Iran was rare and that there was no truth to the reports (http://iransolidarity.blogspot.com/2010....ng.html); her lawyer, however, has made it clear that "Iranian embassies are not a part of the judiciary system, and it is the judiciary which should cancel this sentence.” Rather than being rare, over 100 known stonings have already taken place in Iran and another 60 known cases await death by stoning (http://iransolidarity.org.uk/Sangsarha%20lst-farshad-july2010.pdf). Since the global protest, families of others held in Tabriz prison have come forward with news of 170 people sentenced to death, including children, youth, and 18 men and women for being gay. Two other women also await death by stoning in the same prison including Azar Bagheri who was 15 when she was arrested and 25 year old Maryam Ghorbanzadeh.

On 24 July 2010 at 2pm join us and make the world stand still in its rage against medievalism and barbarity and in its support of humanity. Sakine, her children and the many others awaiting death by stoning and execution deserve nothing less.
