What Is Reality

What does it mean to be 'in one's right mind'? Ordinary discourse and the technical languages of the social sciences assume that being in one's right mind essentially means that one has the ability to calculate how to attain valued ends while avoiding injury and opprobrium. The calculating rationality which utilizes appropriate means to achieve desired ends is thought to be known and recognized both by rational subjects themselves and by equally rational observers; irrationality, then, is an incapacity to calculate, and is revealed in a lack of congruence between acts and goals.

Anthropologists, as professional iconoclasts, have often attempted to demonstrate that assumptions about 'normal' consciousness vary according to cultural context; what is madness here is sanity there, and vice versa. This approach is especially characteristic of interpretive anthropologists who wish to avoid imposing preconceived Western notions of rationality on what Clifford Geertz calls 'local knowledge'.

An interpretive meaning-centered analysis is not adequate for understanding collective behavior that is outside the range of calculating rationality.

So.. in which altered state of consciousness lies true reality?

We won't know, for we can only perceive reality through thoughts. Our perceptions are not always correct, so therefore reality is too fickle for us to ever fully realize.

It most likely is, and I do not deny that, but there are cases in which perception can be misleading and it is impossible to know that our reality is true. The only knowledge we can know, as Descartes says, is the cogito: "I think therefore I am." Though Descartes himself believed in more knowledge than simply the cogito (he was a realist), but we cannot definitively say anything outside of our minds actually exists because everything outside of our minds are simply perceptions of our minds, meaning they are reactions of our senses. How do we know are senses aren't mere thoughts? Mere illusions created by our minds? It isn't likely, but it is a possibility and one that makes it impossible for us to definitively say anything else is reality with true conviction.

Btw, here's an example of someone whose perception is skewed: the color blind person. They see certain colors completely different from everyone else except for others with the same issue, so when you say "that's red" their reality is "no, that's grey." You see where I'm going with this?

i see what your saying, but i think there are some things where you can say that's real and other things which are more relative. coz not everything is relative.

Nothing is relative. Perspective's don't matter. What is true is everything is subject to Universal law.

The law is everything you eat you shit.

What you let in comes out even from your soul.

Guard it.

Yeah, I was going confused at that comment as well! Lol! But seriously dude, it is IMPOSSIBLE to TRUTHFULLY say you know, with 100% certainty, that anything other than our thoughts are truthfully real.

Thoughts don't exist.

People learn language and how to "think."

Why do you think that you have free will.

What is real is God and I know because I believe.

Africans understand the spiritual.

It's a simple truth what you put out comes back.

And everything else that happens to you is
people moving towards or away from God.

For those who do not understand what is real
drink water and then drink alcohol. Compare then
you will know.
