LOL I dont listen to it often but I decided to listen to "Ready to Die" earlier this week & I forgot my damn self how dope that album was. More songs than "Illmatic" while still having great quality IMO. Just thought I'd say its better since they're better albums to compare when both came out the same year.

true. i'd definitely call that a good comparison. i also prefer 36 Chambers, Liquid Swords, Only Built For Cuban Linx, Infamous, and for a few that aren't really related (and since 2 of the 4 albums i posted so far have Nas verses on them, to offset the balance :D ), i'd say INI's "Center of Attention", both of Jeru's classic albums (SRITE and WOTM), and another album that sounds kind of similar to "Illmatic" IMO, OC's "Word... Life", are better than "Illmatic".

I feel you. I definitely think OC's "Word... Life" & Jeru's "The Sun Rises In The East" is just as good or better than "Illmatic". Sometimes it just depends on my mood of the day. I haven't heard "Wrath of the Math" in a bit & "Center of Attention" in a hot minute. I'll have to dig & see if I even still got "Center of Attention" foreal.

Idk, I just get tired of some making out "Illmatic" to be the messiah of all hip-hop albums. Its a top 20 album for me surely but its not the greatest album to have ever been put out IMO.

Only god can judge me.

i can't agree with that man, you can make an argument for SRITE but no way is WOTM better, even i don't like that album that much and i'm a Jeru fan, most of the songs on that album are either too short or too long

Man, WOTM is on par with SRITE and I actually like it better personally than SRITE. Everyone says they're on par with each other though.

I dont understand how anyone can like SRITE, the beats make my ears bleed, its no wonder why those were beats that premo was gonna throw away.

wtf?! who said this?!?!?! "Come Clean" and "Ain't The Devil Happy" were easily two of my favorite Premo beats ever. i admit it took me a couple of listens to get into this album, but i can listen to it 20 times in a row before even considering giving "Illmatic" a spin. and "WOTM" is even better IMO. better beats overall too (though those two beats are superior to anything on WOTM).

^^I take it your not exactly into the "Boom Bap" sound because that's the kind of beats that were on "SRITE".

Only god can judge me.
