Put a reason who you think is better. IMO, Nas, because hes been the most consistent rapper of all time, doing it for 19 years and still the most lyrical in the game. Nobody else has ever done this in hip hop for so long and remained relevent on a global scale nas has done, and still be considered the best for so many, he has inspired rappers today like blu, jay electronica and lupe fiasco (firm fiasco) to name a few. eminem inspired a generation of wiggas
1. He has the best album of all time, Illmatic.
2. He has 4 classic albums, Illmatic, It Was Written, Stillmatic and Lost Tapes. Nobody else has this many classics. ATCQ has 3 (in a row) the rest has 2, 1 or 0. (2Pac has 0 but he's in my top 5, thats another story).
3. He has the best unreleased discography, ahead of 2Pac and Eminem which comes in a 2nd and 3rd IMO.
4. Each of his albums are very different..
- Illmatic = the streets, bitchaz, 40s, rollin oo-ops together, only jokin, u know what it is....
- It Was Written & The Firm - if u love films like goodfellas, casino then this is for you.
- I Am... Nastradamus - the double album that never was that was suppose to be the autobiography, with belly button window, papa was a playa, the curse, etc. I am... was a good album, Columbia wanted another album so he rushed out his worst album to date but better then 90% of albums today. Nobody slatin Ludacris fro his new album, cos hes Ludacris, Not Nas. Who we expect much better from cos he's the g.o.a.t.
- Stillmatic - came back to destory the mainstream faggot gay-z is, and gave us sooo many conscinece songs to manifest for years to come. Rewind was groundbreaking tellin a story backwards, 2nd childhood.. "shes in the streets yackety jackin like she was 12, honeys 27 argues fights, selfish in her own right for life, guess shes in her second childhhod" some real talk there. he had hood stories and shit to the world, like Rule, What goes around.. One Mic was the first song in hip hop history to use crescendo.
god's son - just lost his mum and he gave us a near classic album, every song was clasic, but mastermind and zone out meant it didnt get that C word. this album was more about his spiritual side, heaven, dance, and also continued the conscience side but more about history, lyrics to warrior song "The Nazarene of Bethlehem they had me wrapped in blankets..." and "British regime I can't cope my existence is hope for younger teens who lost in their world. Earlier this year I buried my queen in a gold casket..." very emotional album, and gave us the softer side of nas, and gave us some inside look into new york in 95 with stories of big, rae and jay in last real nigga alive.
- edit, i wanted to add that i can was a great single, i was about 13/14 or something at the time and everyone was singing this at school.. well the girls were. the guys were all talkin about that nas 3rd verse.. egypt. <still a verse being debated today with over 2-3 mil views on yt.
streets disciple - il wrap this up more.. this ws nas takin a complete musical change, and its like fine wine, this album ages well and if u listen to message to the feds, suicide bounce, thiefs theme, it sums up this album well. and thats a great album. one to take out twice a year, enjoy it, and put it back into the vaults. and let im marinate some more to get more, oh so sweet
hip hop is dead - the most relevent album of the decade, the most talked about album of the decade, the album that gave 85% of the ppl on this forum an insight into hip hop other then 50 cent and nelly. deny it all u want but i remember when classic video came out and rhhf was just startin up. this was the most relevent album to ur movement. and something that was against everything mainstream music was for,
"thats why the gangsta rhymers aint inspired, heinous crimes help record sales more then crative minds, and i dont wanna keep bringing up the greater times, but ima dreamer nastalgic with the state of mind" with the video being a backdrop to the if i ruled the world vid, 10 yrs on.
where are they now made 90s babies google kool g rap, and other grat emcees from the laste 80s early 90s era that u truthly never heard bfore this album. real talk.
untitled - the year of obama, again, the most relevent album. more so then the carter3, lax, ice cubes album. it was a great yr for underground hip hop.. but this album had it all. hero was a great commercial single, hate it or love it, it got 3 mil yt views and a generation of gucci mane and lil wayne fans an insight into slavery, black oppresion, names from the civil rights era, in form of rap song. queens get the money meant we all knew not to underestimate him "talkin that nas dont fell of with rhymin.. please god spit that uzi armin linin, that shorty do-op rollin oo-ops in the park" a ref to it aint.. and one love. he gave us that.. the commercial singles to sell an album origianlly gonna be called Ni***r. the rest was very much back to politics and what the album was about.
distant relatives - as we enter, strong will continue > anything else in the last 3 months.
5. makes the most creative songs ever = i gave u power - a gun, fetus - a baby, rewind - rappin backwards, sekou story - a girl, who killed it - on some who framed roger rabbit type ish lol, project roach - self explanatory. love listenin to a new nas ablums as im waitin to see if he raps from another perspective in someone elses shoes.. real shit. noone else does this like nas.
theres 5 good reasons. what u think?
