We're putting together a list of top 5 hip hop albums from every year from 1984 all the way up until 2010. we're already doing it in the youtube group but we should use the other networks to contribute to the list too.
the way it will add up is the albums get 5 points if it gets named number 1, 4 points for being named 2, 3 points for number 3, 2 points for number 4 and 1 point for being named number 5 on peoples top 5 lists.
after the lists are drawn the top 2 albums from each year will be put against other albums in a tournament style brackets, we will have votes to see which album will come out as the greatest

Mos was already REALLY famous. he had a hit in 1998 off the Sound Bombing compilation and another off of Lyricists Lounge Vol. 1 that was actually about as popular (according to its chart position) as Ms. Fat Booty: and Black Star was already regarded by many as a classic by the time Ms. Fat Booty was released, especially tracks like "Respiration" and "Mathematics". shit, nowadays i hear "Respiration" in more places than i hear "Ms. Fat Booty". it's a lyrical masterpiece, far more so than "Ms. Fat Booty", and the beat is fucking sick too. as for Tollah, he did get big off that track.

i'm not a mos def fan but this album was fuckin sick, at least its still in the top 5 though but its a shame its just missed out on the elimination rounds, at least 2001 and slim shady lp are both classics as well though i made a list of 2000 albums before, theres a shit load of albums from this year i had to purposely leave some out
