We're putting together a list of top 5 hip hop albums from every year from 1984 all the way up until 2010. we're already doing it in the youtube group but we should use the other networks to contribute to the list too.

the way it will add up is the albums get 5 points if it gets named number 1, 4 points for being named 2, 3 points for number 3, 2 points for number 4 and 1 point for being named number 5 on peoples top 5 lists.

after the lists are drawn the top 2 albums from each year will be put against other albums in a tournament style brackets, we will have votes to see which album will come out as the greatest

how do you find Brother Ali boring and not the Blue Scholars??! at least Brother Ali has variation in his delivery lol. the Blue Scholars emcee is monotone and sounds like a generic underground rapper.

I dont like his music, simple as that.lol I dont like his voice, I dont like his flow and I dont like the beats. I dont think that Blue Scholar's MC is an amazing MC, I just love their music in general. If you stopped analysing everything about them, and just sat back and listended to their music...you might actually like Blue Scholars ya know.

i'm not analyzing. it was a quick observation. their beats are mediocre at best and the emcee is a generic underground emcee. what redeeming qualities do they have as a group or even individually speaking???

if you think that year was meh just wait until 2009 and 2010 they were even worse imo, i love Panacea's Mind on a ship through time though

^^^ agreed. 2009 and 2010 were definite dull spots, thought both had a few albums drop that were dope, especially 2009 (Mos Def - "Ecstatic").

The beats suck, the MC sucks. What could the ordering of multiple tracks with a wack MC and mediocre production do to make that album possibly sound good??? Lol

Anyways, while we're on 2009 I might as well make a list (I did 2008 already, right?):

1. Mos Def - Ecstatic
2. Raekwon - OB4CL2

And that's all I have. I didn't pay attention in 2009. I was busy with football in Mississippi.

Well, there is Cyne: "Water For Mars" and De La Soul: "Mission Impossible: Operation Japan" (I didn't vote in 2006, so I'll try to rep the reissue, which had a few songs added, which were dope), there's Grandmaster Flash: "The Bridge: Concept of a Culture" (downloaded it, but haven't heard it yet, got a track called swagger ft. Snoop, so I'm not sure), and Godfather Don: "The Ill Funk Freaker EP" (haven't heard this yet either, but his debut was nice)

:)
