We're putting together a list of top 5 hip hop albums from every year from 1984 all the way up until 2010. we're already doing it in the youtube group but we should use the other networks to contribute to the list too.

the way it will add up is the albums get 5 points if it gets named number 1, 4 points for being named 2, 3 points for number 3, 2 points for number 4 and 1 point for being named number 5 on peoples top 5 lists.

after the lists are drawn the top 2 albums from each year will be put against other albums in a tournament style brackets, we will have votes to see which album will come out as the greatest

Nahh, Edan is not able to get as deep as Kno.

Edan is more of a lyricist anyways so i don't doubt that. they are two different types of emcees. i will say tho, the song "Beauty" alone is deeper than anything i've ever heard from Kno.

Right now I think it's just a matter of opinion

lyrically in what sense tho? Edan is the far more technical lyricist and he has an uncanny ability to word things in a way that is just so clean too. Kno is simpler and probably deeper. what is it that you prefer about Kno?

lol i need to check them :D

His poetry. I feel like comparing Kno to Edan is like comparing Common to Vakill, slightly different emcees and of course, as I mentioned before, a matter of opinion.

are you saying Kno is like Common and Edan is like Vakill??? because while i agree that Kno is more personal like Common, Edan is far more poetic. "Beauty" is honestly the closest hip hop track besides some shit by Saul Williams or maybe Sage Francis i've ever heard to literal poetry (possibly even more so that those guys), and this is coming from someone who studies poetry.

You're keep mentioning "Beauty". It was a good track but not deeper than Kno's shit plus Kno has more deep tracks.
And I've checked Edan's album once again... and I said that before, now I'll say it again: Edan is supreme as a producer but he's not a lyrical monster

Quote (eboyd)
for sure.

Somebody told me that Looptroop's delivery and cadence in English aren't particularly dynamic.
Is that true?
And I wanted to compare them to Son Doobie. Whose accent is stronger? Son Doobie's spanish accent or Promoe's swedish?
And Son Doobie has a Los Angeles accent (basically, pronounciation is always the same).
And finally what about the Looptroop's accent? Do they sound like they were from a particular region or they're just a mix of various US accents?

lol hold up, i'll check in a bit. i can't check it now because i'm about to go somewhere.

as for the Edan thing, i mentioned "Beauty" because you were talking about poetry. the only other verse that even comes close to comparing to the poetry of that track in hip hop history (and probably outdoes it for that matter) is Mos Def's verse on "Respiration".

lol just select the text you want to quote with your marker and then click the "QUOTE" box at the bottom right of that person's comment. it will then show up in the comment automatically and you will be able to scroll down and quote them. if you are still confused, here's the BB code for quoting people (replace the {} with []):

{quote=username}text you plan to quote goes here{/quote}
