We're putting together a list of top 5 hip hop albums from every year from 1984 all the way up until 2010. we're already doing it in the youtube group but we should use the other networks to contribute to the list too.

the way it will add up is the albums get 5 points if it gets named number 1, 4 points for being named 2, 3 points for number 3, 2 points for number 4 and 1 point for being named number 5 on peoples top 5 lists.

after the lists are drawn the top 2 albums from each year will be put against other albums in a tournament style brackets, we will have votes to see which album will come out as the greatest

Wu Tang Clan - 8 Diagrams

Wait a minute, no. NO!! What's wrong with you guys? Why did you pick this garbage? 8 Diagrams is wack as hell, only blind and deaf Wu dickryders could like this shit, and those words comes from a Wu head (Suuuuu!!!!! Suuuuu! Suuuuu... can I get a suuuu? No? Damn it...)

Instead of that, you should listen to a true Wu gem that came out the same year.

Wait, I didn't call you a dickryder, I just can't understand why weaker shit gets more love just because of the name, and the grimey LP from 'Ringz is practically unknown. I respect your opinion. But please, at least you could check Cilvaringz' album

Its funny you say that becos im not a fan of Rakim or BDK....lol You can go on about how they are super lyrical, iconic in the game and that everyone likes em... or whatever...but Its just not my Steeeeeez (As you guys would say..lol) Thats not to say I dont respect them as artists, MC's or Hip Hop ledgends....

I checked out a few tracks from the perseverance album and Its not the kinda shit I listen to man, my bad.lol

The Scenic Route sounds very promising, but I need a couple days to really get a feel of it. Im yet to download the Blue & Exile album, Ive got hundreds of albums im waiting to download.

i would, but i'm lazy lol. i'm also trying to vibe out to Unite C's beats and write to them, work on my freestyling, and get ready to go coach football, so that's like last on my list haha.

ok finally have my top 5 down, bayani was dope thanks for sending that. i listen to songs from Percee's album all the time, been doing so since i bought it in 2008, however i wasn't feeling the production on some tracks and some songs such as Last of the Greats, Legendary Lyricist, Who With Me, 2 Brothers..., were a bit boring for me, i really didn't like the hooks of these songs i think thats what it probably was. But of course the album also has gems such as Raw Heat, Master Craftsman, The Lady Behind Me and all the other songs :D so i have to put it in there, its a great album to listen to when you're going for a walk or run, i notice Everglaze seems more into trippy relaxing type music. Shads album was also close for me in my 5, it had some real gems on there but there were too many songs in between that brought it just a little below the others in my top 5. i'm sure all the other albums you guys mentioned are all probably sick but i don't have time to listen to them all. People are probably surprised i picked Y-Society at no. 2 but i really thought the album was clever, i thought their song ideas were really creative and the album just felt like a fun album, like insights lyrics just felt fun to listen to for me the production actually felt that way too.
Bayani was a late addition for me but the album really has some gems on there too

1. Blu & Exile - Below The Heavens
2. Y-Society - Travelling At Your Own Pace
3. Blue Scholars - Bayani
4. Percee P - Perseverance
5. Panacea - The Scenic Route

honourable mentions:

6. RPM - Pyrimids in Moscow
7. Shad - The Old Prince
