my grandfather (RIP feb 15, 1998)

fought for nazis in italy, later deserted nazis, was captured by the british and brought to india where he was a POW for the rest of the war, him and others were lined up for execution. one by one they were getting executed but when it came time for my grandfather the british soldier's rifle jammed, so he stabbed my grandfather in the shoulder with the bayonet (i've seen the massive scar). once the war was over he was freed and had to find his way back home to Italy. despite the fact that the Nazis tried to rape his girlfriend (eventually wife, my grandmother) and her sister, and the horrible mistreatment he endured at the hands of the british. during his life he never showed resentment or hostility to any british or german person because he embodied a REAL human being that not even i could ever amount to. he knew the past is the past and would never generalize anyone or discriminate against them based on their ethnicity or race, he treated everyone as equals.

RIP Toba Chung

I'm inspired by a whole lot of things. All it takes is a well enough thought out character or idea to inspire me.

I've been inspired by skateboarders like Stevie Williams, Josh Kalis, Rick Howard, Mike Carroll..
(2 get up off my butt and practice my techniques)

Inspired by writers like Tolkien and Vonnegut...
(2 keep writing short stories and develop new characters and ideas)

Inspired by RHHF...
(EmSeed: 2 start making tshirts again)
(Eboyd: 2 keep making music, and get a new puppy lol )
(Menace: 2 ask more questions and learn more about history)
(Blaze: 2 write some more jokes... lol)
(IlikeBacon who i call Roger Bacon: 2 draw a picture today, lol, i'll post it in a bit)

wink Everyone does their part in inspiring others, its all about learning and all about Hip Hop as well....

Wow..... I look up to my grandfather also, for he endured some of the same things, but even he wasn't able to look past race and history. He HATED Jews and blacks because Jewish soldiers in the Hungarian Revolution were responsible for some of the most horrible torture, ironically and when he arrived in Detroit, after escaping Russian-Communist Tyrrany, he was threatened to leave his home by the Black Panther Party. That is when he left for Cali with his wife and 3 year old daughter (my mother) and was able to FINALLY live his life peacefully (he was already in his 40's or 50's at this point). He just couldn't look past race and that saddened me. I can easily see past it.

I'd say that my personal biggest inspiration is Fabio lol

It's hard to look up to someone you never really knew.

Tupac Amaru Shakur.
Through every hardship, his music has always been there.
Always.
It sounds queer but at times I feel like he has been a father figure.
I mean sure alotttt of his songs are about "African American Struggle".
But most of my life I have lived in african american neborhoods, or hispanic, and I have gone through alot of the same stuff that he is writing about.
Like not the shooting stuff, I have realized that doesent solve anything.
But things like "Dear Mama"
"Brendas Gotta Baby"(ive lost alot of freinds that were girls to that whole slut thing. And I know one that got preggo but she got an abortion)
I mean alot of stuff on me against the world and some of 2pacalyspe now.
He plays almost a father figure.
Like usually a father is there to reassure you, give you confidence. My dad isnt. So I turn to pac. His music keeps me strong. When Im down I just sink into it....

Its just hard to explain.
Im sure anyone else here knows what I mean.
And its not just hip hop for me, I sink into Nirvana, Blink 182, shit even The Beatles.
Music is life.

Life's a bitch and I'm just along for the ride.
