Is revenge ever justified?

 In your opinion can revenge ever be justified, whether it be in the form of stealing, a beating or a killing?

This all spurred after a conversation i had with a cat from work about a movie called "Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance". I felt the title dictated the movie quite well, but the other hated it because he felt the man's actions were not justified. Cant really say what the actions were because it would spoil the movie but fuck it, im rambling. what do yall think.

 I remember reading some shit, and watching this TV story where revenge actually takes a toll on the person. Also, revenge is thought of a quick fix but the hate and feelings of retribution will still linger inside. They say the best revenge is forgiveness and living a good life. But fuck... a violent revenge feels pretty satisfactory even if it isn't long term.

 i can see myself acting out of spontaneous emotion, EX. seeing a close friend/family being beat up or killed would cause me to react immediately without thinking. but if it were to happen when im not around, i think i'd be able to contemplate enough not to react, or at least I hope i would.
