No offense to MLK, but what made him any different than any other black revolutionary? I'm sure plenty of other black people had the same message. So what makes him so special? Seriously, this is an innocent question. I haven't really studied him. Sorry for the ignorance :-/

Plus i wanna add , MLK was a militant he was a fierce anti capitalist and anti imperialist his 3 evils speech is proof . Mainstream media transformed his image into an Obama like imagine .

you should wiki or read a book on the man. dude did a lot for the advancement of blacks and is probably and possibly forever be the most famous black martyr in american history. Just a few things off the top; he was well educated, helped organize many strikes and walk-outs at jobs that were racist and openly treated blacks unfairly, helped (did not think of) the march on washington where he delivered his I have a dream speech, helped organize the bus boycotts after Rosa refused to move, and dude also practiced what he preached, his house was bombed and set on fire and he never retaliated. An un-human like sense forgiveness and tried to pass it on to others I don't know about him being a militant though.

marcus garvey headed the back to africa movement and was in no way involved with the panthers. way before there time. if you are interested dude jsut go to the library and read up on it. the book coming to age in Mississippi is good, Black Boy, Nigger, and a few others give a good example of what was going on at the time and mention many prominent black leaders as well.

come now dude. there were not many pro black groups that practiced the way MLK did, im sure there were some but not many. he was one of the few who practiced non-violent tactics and insisted that physical retaliation was not necessary. other groups would fight back which is what alca. was implying. George Jackson was a proud person and stood up for what he believed in. was very smart and wrote 2 very popular books while behind bars, eventually being shot by a guard while allegedly rioting and attempting to escape after his brother had been killed outside of prison. crazy story
