Basically when someone is dying and they know they might die, the person will usually write down a list of people whom he wants to speak at the funeral (usually friends or family members), they will sometimes write a note for someone to read addressed to people, and then they might write a song list. Then the song is either played when everyone is viewing the body, sitting in their chairs and they just listen, or during the reception if there is a lot of songs to be played. But I guess if someone just dies, friends and fam gather and just try and guess based on what they knew.
