here's my full review House of Flying Daggers:
this grew on me, at first i found the beat a bit much but its actually a dope banger, it just goes on for too long which makes the beat repetitive, if it ended after the second verse it would be okay, Ins and Method Man had the best verses.
Sonny's Missing:
its a decent track, the beat is nothing amazing but the track all together is good, i like the story they're rapping about, fits in with the Criminology theme.
Pyrex Vision:
basically a 54 second snippet of Raekwon rapping while half asleep, i don't get why its even on the album
Cold Outside:
i agree with El_Matador this is Rainy Dayz part 2, its a dope track, i wish they would have got someone like Mary J Blige or Alecia Keys to sing on it instead though. i don't like the guys singing that much but its still good.
Black Mozart:
the beat is dope as fuck, i wish RZA got more beats this dope on the album oh well, one of the best beats on the album for me.
Gihad:
another sick beat, this is a really nice track, funny diss to Joe Budden at the end "while you're at it go get yourself a steak out the freezer for your eye nigga, some baloney or somethin on your face nigga"
New Wu:
another dope beat from RZA, Method Mans verse on this song was imo the best verse on the whole album.
Penitentiary:
meh its okay, don't like the beat so much, i think its just filler
Baggin Crack:
another okay track seems like a filler track to me.
Surgical Gloves:
the beat from Alchemist is sick, this is another song that really stuck out to me, Raekwon seems to go a little off beat with his rapping though.
Broken Safety:
the beat is pretty tight, but i don't really wanna hear Jadakiss or Styles P on a Wu-Tang album.
Canal Street:
another okay song, not bad but not and outstanding track either. beat is meh considering the first album every beat was sick as fuck, this is just another filler track to me as well, though the first album also had a couple filler tracks too.
Ason Jones:
a really nice beat from J-Dilla and tribute to ODB, its a good track
10 Bricks:
this is my fave song from this album, the beat from J-Dilla is fuckin sick, i love this track. classic track.
Fat Lady Sings:
this is just a two minute skit pretty much produced by RZA, but most of it is just a sample of some Fat Lady Singing i guess, i don't really get why its on the album lol.
Catalina:
produced by Dr. Dre, when i first heard this on youtube i thought the beat was too repetitive but after a few listens this is actually a pretty good song, it sounds like a mainstream song but this is one of those mainstream songs where i actually like listening to it. Even the chorus which is really mainstream talking about money etc, i even like that, its pretty catchy and i hope they do a video for this. at first you might not like it but after a few listens its actually one of the best songs on the album.
We Will Rob You:
i was disappointed that Slick Rick didn't have a verse on here, its a decent enough song, cool story from Raekwon it fits in nicely with the album. chorus from Slick Rick is a bit weird though. someone said Masta Killa's verse on this was the best on the whole album lol, i actually didn't really like his verse that much, its okay though. Like with the first album GZA only has one verse which is on this song, his verse is pretty dope too. On the original track listing for this album though there were more songs that featured GZA, i assume those didn't make the album because of sampling clearance which delayed the albums release.
About Me:
featuring Busta Rhymes produced by Dre, the album was actually meant to be funded by Busta Rhymes, buts a pretty good song, i really like the chorus on here, its a nice chorus and song.
Mean Streets:
i still have to get used to this song a bit more, its a decent enough song though.
Kiss The Ring:
a nice celebration type of song, i really like that about it, its got a pretty good beat on it too, one of the best songs on the album no doubt.
overall i'll give it 75-80
