overall i'd give it about a 3 out of 5. 70 percent at most. most of the beats on the album didn't suit Rakim, some of the songs were a bit ruined by the R&B/Gospel choruses such as "Man Above Me". Whats disappointing is that Rakim can do better, some of his unreleased tracks were fire and were on beats that actually suited him such as the solo version of Hoodlum, or most of the tracks on the J-Love mixtapes i'd take tracks like those over most of the tracks on this album. There are a few good tracks on this album such as "Put It All To Music", "Working For You", "Dedicated", "Documentary of a Gangsta" and "Satisfaction Guaranteed" those are the best tracks on the album imo. Holy Are You and Walk These Streets are also ok songs, but i wasn't feeling most of the others that much, some other people did like How To Emcee though

Watchers
Id give it a 3/5 out of 5
75% overall

Idk. Tracey Horton could be at blame or Rakim's lack of effort. All this hyped built and for this and u could be extremely disappointed at first listen. But after a few spins, its not a bad album. Just couldve used more soul and at least ONE premo beat....I mean cmon! Rakim couldve made this album SOO much better but he was probably tired of putting people off so he just went on and released SOMETHING to keep the fans mouth shut. Thats wat it seems like to me. Just something to keep us from complaining. If Ra was to really do this in a classic manner, we wouldnt see its release until '11 or '12. Sad. Rakim couldve done so much more.

I don't believe he could have done much more. He is getting really old. Not like for the earth. But you know.

I JUST EXPLODED INTO RAINBOWS AND LOLLIPOPS!

Meh. MAsta Ace is 42 and his last 2 albums (08, 09) were fucking dope. Well Masta Ace is that MC that gets better with time. His recent work is consistent with his Disposable Arts and A Long Hot Summer. Production kinda slipped but overall he still is keeping it steady. No excuse that Rakim couldnt done the same thing

Me too. I think now that he made his comeback known, he gonna go back into the studio and whip up a truly "classic" album one last time for us. Rakim is too great of an MC to leave Hip Hop with this. His next album will be dope beyond dope. Ill bet anything.
