O, say what do you see by that Dawn’s Light
Do you see our flag flying
Or do you see it dying
Do you see it burning
As our democracy is turning

Whatever happened to separation of church and state
When people are persecuted off high walls
Whatever happened to Freedom for All
Why should all be forced to follow
A set of guidelines they make us swallow
Why are we told who we can marry
Why aren’t you finding this scary
For we are affected one and all
So what will we do when our democracy falls
Will we all just discriminate
Or shall we all appreciate
Who we are
Where we come from
Why can’t we be kind
Why must we watch as our humanity is bled dry
By ourselves
By the media
By the government we hold O, so dear
Why don’t we accept our flaws
Lest we sink in between our leaders’ claws
Let us hold our heads high and make them see
That We the People are truly free
