Dude, Kanye is NOT top 10 and Timbo shouldn't be on that list AT ALL, nor should Swizz Beatz. This list is GARBAGE (except for having Prem at #1. In fact the top 5 is solid I'd say)!!! And dude, Q-Tip doesn't deserve a spot either. All his beats are stolen from either J Dilla or Pete Rock.

beatnuts should be higher (or lower literally on meth's structure of the list)

omg.... kanye is actually prttygood. timbos old stuff was good as well even tho i thot he was ranked too high (or low, whichever it it is). Premo dusnt deserve to be #1, his beats are too simple. and never stole beats from J dilla, he just had Soulquarians take the credit instead of having only J dilla take the credit.

Kanye's dope, just not top 10. maybe top 25.

Timbo was decent back in the day, but remember, he was also a beat jacker. never top 50 material even without being a beat jacker though.

Q-Tip took credit for a lot of J Dilla's work (primarily "Got 'Til It's Gone") back in the day even though Dilla has since been given credit for such beats. also, Pete Rock outed Tip. "Electric Relaxation" has always been my favorite Q-Tip beat and Pete Rock said in an interview that one day he was messing with this sample and had it on repeat at his pad and Tip came over. he told Pete "yo, that's a dope beat, and i know that sample. the way you flipped that was NICE!" a few weeks later "Electric Relaxation" dropped and sure enough, it was using that sample flipped almost exactly how Pete had flipped it. i just don't respect that.

as for Premo, sometimes the simplest sound is the greatest. and what is dope about Prem is he clearly spend a lot of time making sure to make the sample almost unrecognizable from the original track because of the way he chops it up. believe me, it's simple but it's brilliance. he does an amazing job of taking a monotonous beat and making it so it doesn't get annoying after a while and of course his signature scratching in of the hook makes it all that better. his sound may not be complex, but it's classic, and i think that is more important. of course as for myself i am going for complexity because that is what is lacking in hip hop and, for that matter, in Prem's production and if he could continue what he is doing and get more complex he would be so much more unfuckwitable it would be amazing.

Madlib an J Dilla are tied at #2 for me all time.

the thing that they do not have as consistently as Prem is that timeless sound; they don't have as many beats that have "classic" written all over them. sure, they have a lot, but 60% or so of Prem's beats have a very timeless, classic sound to them and that is a trait that is unmatched. i'd say for Dilla and Madlib it is more like 40% which is still a damn good ratio, but it's obviously not as good as Prem's.

and Prem's collab's are predictable???!?!?!? OK rolleyes

oh, and of course this:

and don't forget that Dilla collabed with Phat Kat and several other wack Detroit cats consistently as well so to say Prem is the only person who consistently did predictable collabs is absurd. sure, he had 1,000 tracks with Nas, Jay, Biggie, etc., back in the day and now he consistently collabs with Term, Blaq Poet, Reks, etc., but both Dilla and Lib do the same. Dilla, like i said, with Phat Kat, Frank & Dank, etc., and Madlib with Wildchild, MED, etc.
