MF DOOM definitely sounded like he had just done coke on his Born Like This album, his voice sounded a lot different than it did on the MM...Food album, sounded quieter and raspier so i'm guessing he really had just done coke when i recorded the songs lol. even the recording quality of the album sounded low.

sometimes i really like DOOM but then when i go a while without listening to him i find him annoying, i think its just the voice, he should stop doing coke when he records

right now i have been listening to him so i like him as of now

abanks be careful with mention drugs here. But I personally don't believe that all these artists rely on drugs to be dope. As if they absolutely need it to do good in music.

ALL OF YOUR FAV RAPPERS SMOKE WEED IN THE STUDIO WHILE MAKING ALBUMS AND MUSIC . ;) Just watch all the studio recording videos .

no i dont lose respect for them, if what eboyd is true and hes like thaT 24 7 than ya i lose respect for them. cats were blasted a lot but not 24 7, and if they were they wouldnt let it affect there work to the exxtent that mf doom has where you can literally hear him drooling and damn near passing out

That's the style MF DOOM chooses is not because he's blasted . Just look at his style he choose that image the music everything . Look at MF DOOM in his early KMD days and look at him now . This what makes him unique and get him more money being like this .

why is that?

my statements were based off of what eboyd said. if im lookin at facts i cant say that he has a drug problem because i dont know him like that, but i know drunks, and he sounds drunk as hell in a lot of his songs. and if he RELIES on that for his sound than i lose some respect for dude

cant tell if your being sarcastic but i think drugs are beneficial to musicians sometimes. not that they should rely on them though.

In conclusion Doom sounds like a fuckin barn animal whether or not hes on shit or not correct? Yes we can agree on that. Thanx everyone Doom is not best

not really people kill people . Drugs are boats for people they make people leave this miserable world . If you want to fix the drug problem make a better world create a society where other values are upheld ;) The drug problem as the criminal problem is deep seated in our societies fabric in the way we treat each other how we are raised. Wanna stop drugs change everything change our whole society .

LOL . Amen to that :D

And by the way i myself am not a MF DOOM fan . I only listen to him when I'm blasted . When I'm sober i don't like him at all . :D But i respect his hustle . I respect experimental music .

oh ok. yeah, my aunt is from Marin County, specifically San Anselmo. same street as the George Lucas Ranch. he house is like the cheapest on that block and it's worth $3 million apparently lol fucking rich people :p

also i like how you ignored my comment on doom pissing in all of his fans ears by hiring an impostor to perform as him.

rofl no comment :D

if it werent for grimm the doom you no today would not exist, FACT

:D i can't necessarily deny that either :(

Quote (Joker13)
that means you pretty much lose respect for almost ever musician from the 70's all rockstars in the 90's/ then theres every single rapstar and weed.. lol all of them do drugs...

Quote (Menace)
then throw everything from the 50's onwards in the garbage can because believe or not many songs that are have legendary status were made on weed or on LSD

lol truth!

well i'm speaking from second hand info. my boy Mnemonic hangs out with the Stones Throw cast from time to time and dude is around with them a lot and while Madlib is BLOWN OUT OF HIS MIND 24/7, DOOM has everyone beat drug-wise in Stones Throw. but let's be fair here. a majority of hip hop artists do coke. Del is a hardcore coke head, Fatlip, etc. all those motherfuckers are coking it. on top of that, none of us here can deny that Jimi Hendrix was an amazing guitarist and a pretty damn good singer/songwriter and dude was on more drugs than any hip hop artist ever. same goes for Miles Davis and John Coltrane in their early days. in fact Jazz artists were worse. those dudes were hooked hardcore on heroin. another example of this is Ray Charles. and to say they didn't let it affect their music and that DOOM does let it affect his is a matter of opinion. you can hear it in all of their music (i mean come on, Hendrix sang like a druggie and even sang about drugs!) and to say who was "worse" is simply a matter of opinion.

Not drugs that grow in the ground, like weed, depending on if your smoking hydro, lazy motherfuckers and not flushing out their hydroponics setups, using all sorts of chemicals and shit. . Synthetic drugs (which most of them come from the military including LSD, which was a failed MK-ULTRA drug) result in certain death.

Madlib is blunted pretty much 24-7, trust me alot of artists do. I wouldnt say they necessarily rely on them although some would, its interesting as the mind altering ones open new pathways to the brain. The Unseen was recorded while madlib was tripping off mushrooms, and that album is insanely good imo. Especially when baked.

As for Doom, i like his stuff heaps Operation Doomsday is a classic, got MM..Food and Madvillainy as well, both also good, specially Madvillainy. I respect his work greatly.

how doom hold heat and preach non violence
shh he about to start the speech cmon silence
on one scary night i saw the light heard a voice
that sound like barry white said "sure your right"

dont let me find out who tried to bite
your better off going to fly a kite in a firefight
during tornado time with no coat then i caught ya
wrote the book on rhymes a note from the author

with no headshot he said its been a while
got a breadwinner style to get a inner child to fin a smile
and thats no exaggeration the doctor told a patient
"its all in your imagination negro"

ah what do he know about the buttery flow
he need to cut the ego trippin to date
the metal fellow been rippin flows since new york
plates wes ghetto yellow with broke blue writin

this is too excitin
folks leave out the show feeling truly enlightened
they say "the villain been spittin enough lightnin
to rock shock from boogie down to brighton" aight den

oh noes im a doom dickrider :P. PEACE flipoff

LSD predates MK Ultra and it's predecessors and similar natural versions of the drug were actually used by Filippino soldiers during the war that nobody knows about between the US and the Philippines. they basically kicked the shit out of us because their soldiers wouldn't go down. but yes, MK Ultra was where it was most thoroughly tested. in fact, the CIA gave people lethal doses of LSD and other drugs without their knowledge or consent and it lead to the deaths of Harold Blauer (a professional tennis player) and was said to have lead to the death of Dr. Frank Olson, though in 1994 when his body was exhumed and studied it was found that he was knocked unconscious prior to "jumping" out of a window from when he was on LSD.

Im aware but none of there persona's give that vibe that Doom does I.E. "I am really Drunk or high on something while doing this song". Doom sounds like he is, not stating that he is as fact, but just sounds like it and comes off as just plain sloppy to me. like he's not focused on making music or something.

dude, it's right across the bridge! (the golden gate) if you are in SF up at the top of one of those fucking mountains right there, you just need to look across the golden gate and you'll see it. Pac was from Marin City. Marin City overlooks the rich ass county part of it which is where San Anselmo is and that is where my aunt lives. come on man, SF and surrounding counties are like 1/10th the size of LA. you can see the next county as long as you're at a high enough elevation lol.
