Ok so I notice that bootleggers make money off mixtapes. Do they basically throw a comtiplation of songs on a cd from the same artist and sell it? Excuse the ignorance. It's just I hear the word mixtape alot and I'm not sure if its all new material or if its a comtiplation because Ive seen some artists throw songs off their previous album onto a mixtape

idk, sometimes they're bootleg's, sometimes they're just compilations of unreleased songs or just a free cd someone put together, sometimes their just rhymes over old beats from other people

well I was thinking I should put together mixtapes and either give them out for free or sell them for really cheap.... Like real hiphop. Too many people have no idea what real shit even sounds like. yall think this is a good idea? Id be glad to throw some of yall on a mix and promote yall along with rhhf. School is right around the corner, good time to find new hiphoppers (if thats the word?). Plus its my first year in high school. I will meet people, no doubt

Quote (ilikebacon3000) Id be glad to throw some of yall on a mix and promote yall along with rhhf that's a dope idea, you can make mixtapes if you want to, its a pretty good idea, even if they're ones you didn't make yourself, you can sell them for like $2 or something

Quote (EmSeeD) you can make mixtapes if you want to, its a pretty good idea, even if they're ones you didn't make yourself, you can sell them for like $2 or something Ok I will prolly do that. I have a bunch of blank cd's I never use and I might as well. Also why do mixtapes always have stupid names?Added (14/Aug/09, 0:36 Am) --------------------------------------------- Yeah me and my freind are doing this. We are thinking about doing sorta what illroots.com is doing, minus the website. Just the music/mixtapes. He thought of a name for our first mixtape, "That real shit volume 1". Put out a new mix every month, sell them for a dollar each, and we will use the money to buy more CD's. Any extra will go to either RHHF or if one of us needs some we will use it. Like right now I really need some jeans I only have one pair. shit. but yeah help me with tracks. Here is what I have so far -"I am" Jabee -"dawn at night" Black sunn -"Nature of the threat" Ras Kass -"Protect ya neck" Wu tang (gotta throw some classics on it) -"travellin man" Mos def (underrated) -"wargods" the agency (I really dug that. Plus I gotta throw some RHHF love on there. If you want me to promote you lemmie know I will do it gladly, no doubt) I'm about to check out this quest mixtape called "Where's my rymebook" and a fly union tape called "close doors open windows", it caught my eye because Mick Boogie produced it and I like Mick. Any Suggestions? -

well most of these artists are not well known like RasKass Jabee and Black Sunn. I mean Ras is well known in the underground but beyond that, not at all. I remeber once after hearing "Moment of truth" on Dave Mierras BMX game, I went to best buy when I was about 8 and asked for Gangstarr.... They said they had never heard of them. That just popped into my head ... Whoa. I didnt remeber that until now.

^In the underground. Beyond that, not at all. Priemer maybe, but gangstarr as a group, no.
