CREAM, of course, is one of the exceptions to the rule but even on that track Inspectah Deck had the better verse. I mean seriously though, even Lil Wayne has a few dope tracks. That doesn't change that he's wack. Rae is decent, but nothing special. I can honestly say I'd rather listen to Guilty Simpson or Phat Kat over a J Dilla beat than Rae over a RZA beat.

Liquid Swords shits on OB4CL.....I personally think OBCL2 is better than the original....thats just me BUT if u must kno...the best 2 hip hop albums of all-time are unarguably lol Illmatic and Muddy Waters lol

OB4CL, and LS for that matter, may as well be considered Wu group albums. i'm right now judging Rae as if he were to release a true solo album. he never does because he's smart. he knows he can't carry the weight of an entire album himself like Nas did with Illmatic minus one song.  i'm sorry but Rae's delivery puts me to sleep. and i'm not suggesting that he needs to get all "super-scientifical, gifted and centrifugal. my lyrical miracle is so lyrically lyrical and spiritual" to be a dope emcee. in fact, if anything, those are the makings of an emcee that i would try to force myself to listen to and i probably wouldn't be able to. Canibus reminds me of that. he's dope on occasion and i want to love his shit, but every time i listen i realize that he's just using big, scientific words and ain't saying shit and it just turns me off to his music. a good artist knows how to fit right between being that artist who is so "lyrically lyrical that his lyrics lyrically lyric you to death by lyrical strangulation" and the artist who tells a super simplified story. people like GZA, Rakim, Percee P, Big Daddy Kane, Nas, etc. come to mind for this category. they can at times mystify you with their innate ability to put strings of big words together, and they often show that they actually know how to use them, but then they can turn around and, while not getting super simple, still tell a story that everyone can understand, which in effect often makes for a classic track. "Paid In Full" comes to mind here. Rae is on some super simple (though i will say it's not quite on that old school rap simple, but that is only because he was basically one of the first emcees to invent a completely new street language that was unique to him and later became the standard NY slang in hip hop) story telling shit and his stories and the way he delivers them, to me, are just plain bland.
