What do you think of Rock/hip hop mash ups? Like the one PE did with Anthrax, or this one that I randomly ran across just now.

I really appreciate cross genre/culture attempts. Even if it doesn't work perfectly. Experimentation and incorporating external influences are fundamental necessities for the evolution of music. My fingers are sticky. As for recommendations, iirc every song on the Spawn soundtrack (the live-action version, not a cartoon) was made from mixing a rock with a rap band. It may be worth previewing once.
