^i agree to an extent.
as menace said, eminem is a total gimmick.
i mean I don't consider his Infinite album to be a gimmick at all, but every other album then that was a total gimmick... and to be honest alot of it was corny as fuck.
but that's not to say that IMO alot of it was dope. and yeah he is really shitty, BUT like I said, relapse grew on me. I think it had a few dope tracks, like "Beautiful", "Insane", and "Must be the Ganja".
Recovery was ASS though. but i did like one line. it made me lol.
"I'm a mean cocksucker" Now if someone calls me gay jokingingly, I always go "Yeah well i'm a mean cocksucker too so you better fuck off!"
he's still somewhat clever at times but his while shock value shit was only good for one album: Slim Shady LP.

nah I think infinite was dope.. i mean he couldn't help that he was white, and there weren't any tracks on that which made the point that he was white, really.

Infinite was a independent album, that's why it was a good album, after signing to Interscope they created a whole new persona and started marketing him in this way, his whole career was a LONG GIMMICK. We aren't talking about just one album we are talking about his whole career, SIMPLY AND INDISPUTABLE HIS WHOLE CAREER WAS A LONG GIMMICK, none the less a profitable one, without a doubt.

i agree with that completely.
i feel the way about so many artists... they did it with Rage against the machine as well. although their first release wasn't independent, it was dope as fuck. all of their albums were dope IMO. they maintained creative control.
BUT they were marketed in a bad way... they were marketed to angsty teens (like me lol) who wanted to be super-revolutionary.
that's somewhat irrelevant though, because throughout their career, they said what they wanted. but yeah I totally agree. eminem's career MINUS infinite and SSLP was a total fucking gimmick, and even SSLP was a gimmick to an extent.. although I think eminem himself WANTED that persona. he wasn't being forced to use it.

Let's all be cool and say eminem is a horrible rapper. Yeah, I never liked him.. except for infinite because that was back when he was a starving artist, and i only listen to those types

stop trying to justify his bullshit on recovery. i personally didn't have too much of a problem with relapse, but recovery was just SHIT.

I don't like either of those albums. Because he was rich when he came out with those albums. The amount of funding u get 4 ur album directly corresponds with how shitty its goin to sound. Which is y I only listen to crackheads, ther the real backbone of our oppresive society.

I, For one, don't say shit like that, nor do I believe Menace is saying that. I liked SSLP and MMLP. Infinite was probably his best lyrically but the production was pretty bad. Solely based on the music and Em's spitting on everything after Eminem Show though, in my opinion, everything after MMLP has been garbage.

im not gonna lie i dont listen to eminem, but its the fucking weirdo white rap listeners that compare em to everybody that turns me off from him. I mean i have his old albums that are okay, but his style is gimmicky and i just can't get with it. Its sort of like atmosphere with his emo gimmick shit but at least atmosphere stays true to what he says eminem just sort of did it for shock.
