Quote (Uncharted)
he's releasing an album soon with a more mature concept
Until it happens, I cannot speak on it. As of now, UMC was his last album and it was fucking garbage. That was one of the biggest falls from grace of any emcee in the history of hip hop. And speaking of Common, that reminds me of another emcee who fell hard: Michael Franti.
Talib collabed with fucking Gucci Mane! His last decent album was Eardrum in 2007 and even that was mediocre at best. He hasn't put out anything truly dope since Blackstar and a few tracks here and there. Maybe Liberation. Even that wasn't amazing though. The two newest projects he's been involved in have been fucking lame though.
Murs hasn't been dope since he signed and was ultimately dropped from a major label. Fornever was garbage and none of his Felt stuff has been any good except for random tracks.
As for 9th, his production has gone to shit. Since probably about 2008 at least people like Black Milk and a few others have been the dominant producers and 9th has produced very little that has been worthy of praise. Again, Fornever was garbage, and now he's working with wack motherfuckers like Lil B. At least Jean Grae is doing her thing though.
Joell Ortiz had his group project with Slaughterhouse which was decent, but for what it was supposed to be it was a huge disappointment and Joell really hasn't done shit since. His buzz is really starting to die out as well.
As for Rhymefest, Blue Collar was dope, then he drops El Che, which I had to sit through 2 months before it dropped in order to write a review. That album was fucking garbage. Comparing Blue Collar to El Che is like comparing a filet mignon to some rotten ground beef with maggots in it.
Alchemist has always been hit and miss, with some of his hits being some of the greatest beats in hip hop history and his misses being the worst garbage. Lately he has been producing for people like Curren$y. Curren$y isn't terrible, but the beats Alchemist gives him are mediocre at best. I've never heard Curren$y, or any other artist Alchemist has recently worked with including Oh No, over a decent Alchemist beat.
As for GZA, all I have to say is 2 words: Pro Tools.
