i think it was written is better than illmatic. I am not a fan of wu-tang's production as a whole anyway.

i think It Was Written had better lyrics than Illmatic and more creative ideas than illmatic, but let down by choruses and production

Liquid Swords was just more consistent

anyway on facebook there's 20 votes for Liquid Swords and 2 for It Was Written

lol I am being serious I can probably name like 3 tracks from liquid swords off the top of my head, and its not like I haven't heard it plenty of times already.

come on man, idk about you but i listen to tracks from Liquid Swords all the time, Liquid Swords is one of my favourite songs, Cold World, B.I.B.L.E, 4th Chamber, Gold, these tracks are all sick and the thing is they're all consistent, theres no average song in between them

oh come on, if i ruled the world and i gave you power... liquid swords has so few memorable tracks

Are you kidding me??! who gives a damn about memorable tracks anyways when the entire liquid swords album is filled with tracks that are consistent from front to back??? And on top of that, as was pointed out by Emseed, liquid swords has more than its fair share of memorable tracks.

my new theme song

I know what he means tho. For some reason when i play tracks from it was written i get flashbacks of me in my old cars cruisin thru cities blastin my subs tryn to meet up wit a girl or pickin up/droppin off bud... then the damn vietkong make their ambush and bloods everywhere dodging bullets and stabbi- nah im kiddin, wenever i say the word flashback i imagine im an old vietnam vet. BUT ANYWAY, i think it's easier to relate to Nas's It Was Written album bcuz his style was more than saying "i got the dopest rhymes" or intricate metaphors. He portrayed himself as a pure character that u could relate to....

this is also why I think tupac is considered goat, cuz he made it seem so ez to be a G

livin life like some cheesy movie

Nas - It Was Written

I guess in this day an age it's recognize as a Hip-hop classic (to alot an underrated Hip-hop classic)

This was enjoyable record in my opinion, definitely not original considering the time span in which this record was released, 1996 in which "mafioso rap" was prominent in Hip-hop. Even though I like the "mafioso", for this album it comes off as typical (but I enjoy it though). I like tracks like "Suspect", "Take It in Blood" , "Street Dreams (I like the interpolation from "Sweet Dreams" from Eurythmics), "Watch them Niggas", "Live Nigga Rap" seem to eluded me when listening to this album they kind of sound the same and don't really stand out (maybe I got to listen to them more) and almost forgettable!

The production for this album is pretty average to good, the dopest beat that stands out is "Nas is Coming". Dr. Dre being an awesome producer as usual!

The album does have good gems "Black Girl lost" and an enjoyable single like "If I Ruled the World", Great storytelling in "I Gave You Power" & "The Set Up" and an all star track like "Affirmative Action"
The guess appearances are a above average with big names, other than his Firm group mates are Dr. Dre, Mobb Deep, Lauryn Hill & even Joel Hailey has a good showing!

GZA/Genius - Liquid Swords

What is there to say about this album that hasn't been said.

Highly debatable subject on whether its "the Best Wu Solo" and I just don't know whether in comparison to "OB4CL"

The guest appearances is Wu and to me by default its already stacked in that aspect!

Production = The RZA its already beaten "It Was Written" in that aspect as well , mind blowing production on songs like "Duel of the Iron Mic", "Living in the World Today", "Cold World", & "Killah Hills 10304 (argubly his best beat). The production alone has made me miss out a lot of his lyrics and I can judge from that aspect (I gotta thoroughly listen to this album again and again"

Memorable track: HELL YES, They have them! AGAIN "Duel of the Iron Mic" , "Living in the World Today" , "Investigative Reports", "4th Chamber" , "Swordsman" , "Killah Hills 10304", "Cold World", "I Gotcha Back" UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! (fangasm) %)

My hands are tied!, Liquid Swords! YES Liquid Swords is a way better album!

"It Was Written" is solid record (maybe a Hip-hop album in it own right because I do enjoy this album a lot!)
