Don't sleep on that album right there. It's a cold hard classic.

man, i don't get people saying that. i mean i love the title track and "I Used To Love HER", but the majority of the tracks are decent at best and a large amount of the tracks on that album were so wack to me. idk. Common's defining classic, in my eyes, is "Like Water For Chocolate". that is one of my favorite albums of all time. i know everyone calls "Resurrection" basically the be-all-end-all of Common's material, but it does absolutely nothing for me. of all classic albums, i get the hype of that one the least. i seriously feel confident saying that, minus those two tracks, i though "Resurrection" was wack.

"Can I Borrow a Dollar?" - I hella don't like that shit, nahhhhh, its must be a mistake. Nothing special
"Resurrection" - classic album, called "Chi-Town Illmatic". lol This one and LWFC are my favs, I can't say which one is better to me, because they both rocks
"One Day It'll All Make Sense" - amazing album. Arguably a classic. And yes, Canibus rips Common on "Making a Name for Ourselves"
"Like Water for Chocolate" - Another classic, it contains so much classic tracks, I'd have to mention the whole tracklist
"Electric Circus" - nahhhhh, I didn't like production on that album, it may be a fresh air, but fuck you. I won't say its a bad album, but its far from being as dope as his last three LP's
"Be" - Erik, fuck you LMAO its a great album. Cummon came back to his old style, and that's his last album I really liked
"Finding Forever" - I can't stand listening to that album, I listened to few tracks and then stopped and read his lyrics on azlyrics.com. He had really good lyrics on that album tho'
"Universal Mind Control" - absolutely garbage. Common released stupid piece of shit that doesn't fucking make sense and stinks. If I had to say which one is better, "The Carter 3" or "UMC"..... I wouldn't know what to say. This shit is a disgrace even to wack-ass "Can I Borrow a Dollar?".

His new album "The Believer" is coming this year, but after UMC I don't even want to listen. I'll wait for reviews.

Well, that's your opinion but if you haven't heard the album in a while, I suggest giving it another go around. I know that with myself at least, there have been times where I didn't like an album, listened to it again a few years later and was blown away. Resurrection may have that same effect with you, who knows.

yeah, i most definitely will. i still dust it off from time to time to listen to it. it still holds a prevalent place in my CD case where i can find it easily, if for nothing else, to listen to tracks 1 and 2 (of which i consider both top 5 Common songs) :D the thing is that i have tried on several occasions expecting that i will get the hype of the album someday, but i never do. i have tried so many damn times that i am practically forcing myself to realize that it is Common's best album and it just isn't in my eyes. i can't seem to change that.

yes, i know what you mean. 36 Chambers took me a good 10 years and 20 attempts to really get into. most of MF DOOM's material has fared the same with me. "Illmatic" is probably the prime example of an album that did this with me. it took me over 20 repeat listens from start to finish to finally actually like it. i still don't consider it one of the top ten albums of all time though.

quite possibly. we'll see. songs do this as well btw. i remember hating the track "Stan" by Eminem as a kid and i had a bias against it for so long because i though it was corny, but then i listened again a few months ago and LOVED it.

AGREED! that is my second favorite album by Common. i don't get how someone who like LWFC couldn't like FF. i mean FF's formula was actually based on LWFC. it's like LWFC's little brother lol. i understand someone who doesn't like LWFC not liking FF though.

IMO, this is how Common's albums rank:
1.) Resurrection (His overall best IMO)
2.) Like Water for Chocolate (Another classic, a VERY close second tho to "Resurrection")
3.) One Day It'll All Make Sense (I feel this album is very underrated. Dont see this album get too much topic of discussion.)
4.) Be (His comeback album. The production on "Be" was dope as hell.)
5.) Electric Circus (Okay album. Not what I expect from Common but I respect him trying new things on this joint.)
6.) Can I Borrow A Dollar? (Just alright. Nothing special IMO)
7.) Finding Forever (Too soft IMO but again, the production was very good on this.)
8.) Universal Mind Control (BY FAR his worst album)
