I was thinking about how people were claiming hip hop is dead because good hip hop barely gets played on the radio, but then i was thinking about all the other genres too and realized the problem is not just hip hop. Its all music in general, it's all been watered down to shitty hooks. How many r&b, rock, pop songs that make the charts do you like? How many of them would you listen to?

true and the problem isn't the artists it's the record companys and the artist's now don't have knowledge about what they get in to and no ones trying to teach them ether that's why i don't believe in attacking the artists like we do we need to change our target it's not the artists
isn't one of the rules (i forget the #) is record companys are shady?

For the preaching of the cross is to them that
perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God

record companies now only look for hooks when the make a song. there was some computer program they made a few years ago which was supposed to predict whether songs would be a hit or not purely based on their hooks. They found that songs with 3 hooks usually turned into no. 1 hits. I also remember Chad Kroger from that band i now hate Nickleback, he said of his record breaking song "How You Remind Me", that people always used to tell him they had that song of his stuck in his head, he would ask which part and they were always the same 3 parts. So he figured out that he could just make some shitty ass song but as long as it had 3 hooks in it it would be a no.1 hit. And thats what he's been doing ever since, making shitty ass songs with 3 hooks. It seems everyone in the mainstream has caught on and now every artist on the radio are doing the same thing, plus they've taken it even further, now they make sure there is that ONE WORD which they can repeat throughout the entire song just to make sure it gets stuck in your head. eg. Akon's shitty songs such as "Dangerous", "Na Na Na" or Soulja Boys' Crank Dat. But it's being done in every genre, hip hop just seems to get all the criticism of being dead coz most people think R&B and hip hop are the same thing.

it's gotta be cheap for the industry and it's cheap to make such music as i stated elsewhere on the site trow a few repetitive beats and some talk over it and it's done or put a computer changed voice its more cheap for the industry and the artists are bind to their masters in the mainstreem you see such bullshit cause the mainstreem is ruled by corporate bastard most artists create music after what their masters tell them it's a vicious business and it's ruining every genre of music

Thats why we also have the underground, thank god for that..listen to neo soul or nusoul artists as another alternative to new r&b..i thought we had a playlists for that..there are some good ones out there that are not in it for the fame..Neo soul artists tend to be well educated and very well informed on 'black' history. These artists use their poetic and artistic skills to teach the world about 'black' history, love, politics, social, life and supporting one another as a human race. Neo soul's audience tends to be underground, preferring that the music favor underground credibility and soulfulness over mainstream popularity. artists like
Erykah Badu is one we all know Lauryn Hill, Jill Scott, Musiq Soulchild, Sy Smith, Eric Roberson, Dwele, Omar, Platinum Pied Pipers, Raphael Saadiq, Raheem DeVaughn, Anthony Hamilton, there are many others that we havent even heard of yet becasue they are played mostly in urban stations.

yeah but i mean, people are saying hip hop is dead just coz it isn't on the radio, but i hardly ever hear the artists you name on the radio either, but i never hear anyone saying R&B is dead.
