Nex Millen/DistantStarr “Seekers Remixes”

http://nexmillen.bandcamp.com/album....remixes

Story:

The legend of the seekers is a story that has been told over the last 3 generations.
Some believers will tell you that the seekers are robotic aliens from a far off planet named Cybertron and they have the ability to transform into government owned F-16 fighter jets to disguise their identity and live among us, gathering and relaying information for a presumed hostile invasion.
And others will tell you that the seekers are a creation of DistantStarr "StarrSkream” to be use as a moniker for his self-produced musical projects on hisDizzy Arcadian Music Imprint.
But which ever story you choose to believe. There is still more than meets the eye.
Nex Millen/Distant Starr Seekers Remixes assembles the two tales into one giant of a 4 song EP.
DistantStarr’s razor sharp wit matched word for word by Nex Millen‘s unpredictably smooth production. Plus a cameo by buzzing Philly indie rap artistBuddy Leezle is added just to over do things. Did I forget to mention the visual opus for the song "The Stand Up” directed by SMD and the title track video for"Seekers” directed by DistantStarr and Arron D. Stallworth?
Whether robots in disguise or timeless Hip Hop music. All can hope that the legend of The Seekers is a story that will be talked about and listen to for generations to come.

Illmaculate - "One More Time" Ft. Sandpeople

DOWNLOAD (right click)

Late last month, Illmaculate released his latest album, Skrill Talk. On June 2nd, the Portland, Oregon, rapper will celebrate the album's release with a show at Branx, but before then, Illmaculate is joining his Sandpeople crew for a string of European tour dates. Today, to kick off the tour announcement, Illmaculate is releasing the latest single from Skrill Talk, "One More Time," featuring Sandpeople.

The song, produced by Soleternity, is Illmaculate's response to the pressures of an industry driven by release dates and timetables; he wants to do things his way - and with his crew by his side. "My crew, Sandpeople, definitely had to be on the album," remarks Illmaculate, noting that the song's feel is representative of the Sandpeople process for making music. "This song really has its own vibe within the scope of the album, but it works," he says, "just like everyone in the crew had their own approach to the song, while still remaining cohesive."

Later this month, Illmaculate will be hitting the road with the rest of his Sandpeople crew, as they head overseas for a string of European dates. The tour kicks off May 12th in Sweden and makes stops in Germany, Amsterdam, London, and more, before winding down on May 26th in Oslo, Norway. A full list of dates can be found below.

In other news, on June 9th, Illmaculate, who, since 2004, has proven himself as one of the most accomplished battle rappers in the world, will travel to Los Angeles to take part in the KOTD Vendetta competition. In what will be the biggest battle of his career, Illmaculate will be matching up against Arsonal, while Canibus and Dizaster will also be battling at the event. For more info:

Oh No ft. Sticky Fingaz "Whoop Ass"‏ (Download)

Following two successful collaborative efforts alongside fellow producer/rapper The Alchemist as the power duo Gangrene -2010’s Gutter Water and 2012’s Vodka & Ayahuasca- and the 2011 gem with The Alchemist as Gangrene & Roc Marciano, the Greneberg EP; The Oxnard, California based beat-smith and emcee Oh No returns for a solo mission.

Oh No (born Michael Jackson; younger brother of Madlib and son of singer Otis Jackson) was granted unprecedented access to the Rudy Ray Moore / Dolemite audio archives and given free rein to slice, dice, chop and sample his way through the classic-yet-absolutely-filthy catalog. He was able to use legendary material from The Human Tornado, Petey Wheatstraw, the Dolemite Soundtrack and more, plus a multitude of previously unreleased and alternate acapellas and instrumentals. The end result is Ohnomite (available on 6-5-2012), a 19 track head-banging extravaganza of sloppy funk, dirty soul, and brainy lyricism, all aimed at one thing- making your head nod and your ass shake. And when you add to that guests spots from the likes of MF Doom, Evidence, Phife Dawg, The Alchemist, Erick Sermon, Rapper Pooh, MED, Guilty Simpson, Roc Marciano, Sticky Fingaz, Chino XL, Roc C, Prozack Turner, Termanology, Frank Nitt and more, and you are left with a one of a kind album from a one of a kind musician. Ohnomite- 19 songs of pure whoop ass from Oh No and Dolemite!

Speaking of “Whoop Ass,” here is the first leak from Oh No’s Ohnomite LP f/Sticky Fingaz:

billy woods - "Blue Dream" Ft. L'Wren‏

A few weeks back, billy woods celebrated the release of his latest album, History Will Absolve Me. As his first solo release in eight years, HWAM is an unapologetically dark and dense project, a collection of woods' most personal work to date that he refers to as "wholly uncompromising." And while most rappers shy away from bearing their soul, History Will Absolve Me shows that it's at woods' rawest when he's best.

"Blue Dream," the album's latest single, and the first since the release of his "Duck Hunt" video, is a perfect example of that. The song was premiered today by My Old Kentucky Blog, which hailed the track as a "claustrophobic gutcheck," an apt description for a song that, according to woods, was inspired by "the end of a long relationship, the movie Blue Valentine, and this period I went through where I seriously contemplated whether I wanted to quit smoking weed."

The beat, produced by Man Mantis, sets the mood with a hypnotic sample and reverb-heavy drums, aided along by singer L'Wren's haunting vocals on the song's chorus. woods, pulling from the concept of Blue Valentine, gives his take on a relationship, focusing only on the relationship's beginning and end. But even as things start smoothly, woods hints at issues, rapping, "I'm hoping you don't ask the wrong questions/ I really don't wanna start lying." The song takes a firm turn towards the darkness in the second verse, as woods raps, "So much unsaid/ We only keep it real when we're joking... Somewhere along the line/ We stopped trying and started going through the motions."
