i forgot about The End. Animal Chin and Yeah Right! though? meh... i'm not into old school skateboarding much and Yeah Right! came out in 2003, no? yeah, i had already stopped skating at that point. i actually had to look that up because i'd never heard of it. lol! skateboarding was already getting fazed out in 2001 or so anyways. skating, just like hip hop, went commercial in the early 2000's and got all fucked. i was lucky enough to have skated during the golden age, but i stopped before it went to shit. my mom bought a board for my sister and this dude gave her some shitty equipment because my sister and mom don't know shit and my sister was complaining about how it felt bad and i was like "stop complaining" but she kept on so i said "here let me try" and i was like "WTF?!?!?!" because the board was SHIT, so i went back and returned it, got a better deck, but i was looking for all this equipment that simply didn't even exist anymore. it was SOOO gay. i still wouldn't mind getting back into it though.

strange..i never really thought of skateboarding and hip-hop
been alike..i mean all the skaterkids (skids) i know listen to Punk-rock,
emo-music, & death-metal, the only thing they do thats close to hip-hop
is graffiti at skateparks. im just saying i dont see how the 2 go together
please explain...and dont ask why im here

Well First off both cultures support rebellion.
They both like loud music.
Both have drugs. And this is in the "Regular off topic" section... so yeah.
And go check out Skateboard P, or Compton Ass Terry (Terry Kennedy)

it goes deeper than that. see, skating, like hip hop, is in a state where the corporations have taken it over, so you are seeing a time where, just as hip hop, bullshit trends have taken over and you get stereotypes like that Nate. yes, in general skaters = punkers, but back in the golden age of skating (mostly late golden age) skaters either listened to punk or underground hip hop. i found out about Common, Promoe, Talib, etc., through skating. Common actually got LWFC put on because of skate videos. he had a music video in one of the 411VM videos for "Hot Shit" featuring J Dilla. "6th Sense" and "The Light" were both background music in other popular skate videos. trust me, skating and hip hop go hand-in-hand.

I'm using a chocolate right now... choc/girl is my second favorite company besides Alien... I rep Alien hard here in Philly.... 2 many cats who don't really know about skateboarding front on it and rock all the fly shit that is 4 me... lol ha I've been skating for a long time... and i just love the thrill of it..... my favorite thing nowadays are nose wheelie combos... what's people doing on their boards?
