mayor street letting the xgames come to philly to rape and exploit skateboardign for millions of dollars

that's pretty much why i quit sad it was just starting to become popular and i was into skateboarding because i loved it, but one of the main things i loved was the rebellion it represented. i loved the fact that my lifestyle was considered illegal. idk. i was a kid at the time. when do kids ever think rationally? biggrin

oh, and i'd heard that about Love. back in like 1999 people i knew were already talking about how Love became a total bust.

i've skated Pier 19 (i think it's Pier 19. there are so many goddamn piers in SF that i have no clue though) when i visited my aunt, i skated the other famous skate spot in SF too, i forgot the name, my middle school was actually a pretty popular skate spot because of a BEAUTIFUL 10 stair with a handrail (had knobs, but we always welded them off biggrin ) and Eric Koston and Paul Rodriguez actually made it famous. i tried to board slide it and probably could have, but i almost got injured bad and this was just before i stopped skating, so i didn't, but i totally had it. if i find some picks i'll post. i've skated most of the dope spots in downtown, but even back then they were so bust it was ridiculous. i can't imagine how not worth it that shit is now. what really discouraged me though was the fact that i fought so damn hard and worked my city so hard to get a skate park put in (something i caught a lot of flack for because it went against the whole "rebellion" aspect of skating. we were into rebellion so deeply that, for example, if we listened to a popular artist, we weren't allowed to listen to the radio hits. we had to listen to the b-sides. lol!) and when it finally did, after 3 years of fighting (i got to cut the ribbon and everything!), some old fuck that has never skated in his life and is just an architect that doesn't know the first thing about the physics of skateboarding took the plans i made myself, pissed on them (symbolically speaking), and created a completely fucked set of plans and made the shittiest skate park in the US. that was basically the main thing that discouraged me and showed me that skating was going completely corporate. but yeah, as i said, i'll post up some pics of my middle school, preferably with Eric Koston skating the 10 stair. i also have pics of me ollieing it somewhere. i sent them into Prevention File magazine, but unfortunately they didn't know shit so they posted the ones with me skating the 4 stair instead. if i find those maybe i will post too.

Government crackdown, replacement of benches / flower pots 2 obstruct skateboarding...

The parting of the skateboard red sea, so the bums could make their way back in and reclaim control of the park... in a nut shell...

Im proud to say that last week I decided to start back up skating again!
What kind of board should I get?
I want an alein workshop, but Im thinking about getting a 35$ complete off ebay.
Im not too picky on mesurements and concave and all that right now since im just starting up.
I just want something that will ride.

Life's a bitch and I'm just along for the ride.

I'm riding a ZooYork 7.5, Black Magic Griptape, Blackout wheels, Independent trucks, Ironhorse hardware, Reds bearings, and usually skate in DVS shoes.

I would skate... if all the skaters i know nowerdays weren't douche faggots... 1990's is my favorite skating era...
this is exactly what i think of a stereotypical douche skater...

and here comes the skaters i never see anymore... the 90's Baggy Skater...

I searched up baggy skater... i got this...

"the 90s skater shoe

Look, you know what I'm talking about. The puffy tongue, thick soles, falling off your feet, usually accompanied by too-baggy jeans and a love of Wu-Tang Clan. "

no really... thats what i got... i love 90's skating culture...

I'm not just talking about dressing of course... all the skaters i see now are elitist fucks.. always talking about who's a poser skater... and how real THEY are...

fuck i hate that shit...

lol i used to ride Alien too, but before that it was Habitat and before that Baker (those boards suck though) and before that (and for a LOOOONG ass time) i was all about Element (pre-Bam Margera) and Girl. it's been so long so idr what size board i rode but i had Black Magic grip (is there any other way to go?!?!?!), Monkey Nuts, some Bones ceramics (YEAAAAAAH BITCHES!!!! :D ), and Destructo trucks (i miss Destructo. the company went under though :( ). i never really had a wheel preference (as long as they were small or medium size) and i distinctly remember how much i hated Doh Doh bushings (because they're soft and get all smashed when a serious skater rides them) and Grind King and Web trucks.

btw, nobody lie here lol. did anybody here buy their first board and make the dum-dum move of not buying riser pads? lol! i know i did :D

Yeah plus now skating is full of tight jeans, bright colors, etc etc... Bullshit.

I'm still a baggy skater (I'm more of a rider. I cruise and might hop a few stairs, but I don't necessarily "skate" spots, you know?)
I always wear medium loose to baggy jeans, with some good ol' normal skate shoes, and a plain black t-shirt, with a baseball cap on backwards. Lookin like Fred Durst and shit.
OH, and I always have a backpack too!!

I used to rock these.
