YEAHHH! My english teacher from last year was like that. He likes lil gayne, and the other day he was ranting on Blueprint 3 and how he will remeber the day he got it forever because its SOOO amazing. But he still loves underground shit. I'd stay and talk to him for 2-3 hours after school about drugs, music, pop-culture, history, everything. I still go see him about once a week. Oh and this one teacher at my school really digs NWA, Public enemy, Ras Kass, all that. I don't know him that well but we've talked. And there is this guy that randomly walks around my school who is a student-teacher and he is always wearing Erik B and Rakim shirts, I saw him with a Pac shirt a while back, ATCQ shirt, and a bigie shirt. Everytime I try to talk to him he's like "GET TO CLASS!: : /
Life's a bitch and I'm just along for the ride.

Wtf?! That's crazy! I've already met people here in the South, in Mississippi of all places, that are into real hip hop! Granted, many of them are from Cali, but I know plenty of people here and a few are from the South and listen to Immortal Technique, Wu Tang, etc. But yeah, I'd say 40-60% of the people I know from back home are burnt out on Lil Wayne and know about/listen to Atmosphere, IT, Chino, Joell Ortiz, etc. Of course I hang out with Mnemonic a lot and Percee P every once in a while so there may be a reason for that. Seriously though, I just surround myself with real dudes. Oh, and my 7th grade biology teacher taught me about Run DMC. Everyone else was listening to Hot Boyz back then and I was listening to Pac, Ice Cube, Snoop, Bone Thugs and even Common and I'd heard some tracks by Run DMC but he gave me their greatest hits. I bought him Public Enemy's "Greatest Misses" for xmas in return. Now that I look back, and I'm literally just realizing this RIGHT NOW, that was one of the catalysts that led me into the realm of real hip hop.
