Quote (sodr2)
the council of nicaea included the orthodox churches as well who dont celebrate Christmas on dec 25
well aware of that. that doesn't change the fact that Christmas being celebrated on Dec. 25th was a result of the council of nicaea.
Quote (sodr2)
btw what about dec 25th just being a coincidence being on the winter solstice (9 months after Annunciation which is on march 25)??
i never ruled that out, i simply mentioned, historically, where the decision came from and why we celebrate the winter solstice on the same day as christians celebrate the birth of christ.
Quote (sodr2)
Actually, God prefers it if we love one another as He has loved us, so giving gifts to other people is a yes-yes. "Whatever you do to the least of them, you do to Me."
i know. i was giving a logical response to an illogical statement based on the idiotic logic presented in that statement.

what do u mean western? it started in the east
Rome was considered western as it's empire's basis was in Western Europe. remember, there was, to the best o our knowledge, nothing west of Europe at that point in time.
Quote (sodr2)
isnt it Judaic AND Christian philosophy?
in a sense, but then again, not really, as Judaism came LONG before Christianity.
