That shit is crazy. Why alot of rappers\or people who actually are listeners, don't know other words than "you know what I'm saying" and "you know what I mean"? Damn, I wonder if they talk like that to their wifes and children. Why is that? Don't say its the black people thing, because whites and latinos are acting like that too.

I say "You know what I'm sayin" to my mom and my friends, because I talk slang to them.
However, I can speak normally to anyone else.
It's just a way to sorta connect yourself to one another.

no its not a race thing, u know i'm puerto rican..i hear my cousins say it alot but with a spanish accent..u kno what i mean meng lol sometimes my son says it and it drives me nuts but i guess when i was younger we had our slang talk that probably drove my mom crazy so i try not to let it bother me..i just tell him that when its time to go for a job interview, don't let it slip  time and place for everything.
