I think what the uncle did was old fashion as hell, BUT, it was great and more parents need to be this way.
The progressive suburban types that opt out toward being their kid's friend or using alternative methods, and that are all about "praising the child" and all that bullshit, THEY are the ones whose kids end up being the ones passed out at parties in the driveway at high school parties.
