lol sorry man been one of those days, i dunno what it is about op doomsday, the first time i sat down and listened it literaly blew my mind - dunno why. i still cant see how mm food is better, its more refined but i think doom is better when hes more raw, although saying that madvillainy was like refined abstractness

Nah Doomsday was good, but it had too many 80's R&B samples, it keinda made the album unattractive but it was still major dope MM...Food was better cuz it lacked the R&B samples

i really dislike the beats on Op: Doomsday. that's all. maybe i need to buy it and put it on repeat to get into it though. i had to do that with "Mm... Food?" idk. we'll see.

well, without further ado, since this is about reviewing this album and not one review has been posted, here's mine : Lyrics: 95% Beats: 80% Flow: 85% X-Factor: 75% Total: 83.75% Real i honestly felt DOOM came CRAZY lyrically here! some of his lines were outrageous like on "That's That": "give an MC a rectal hysterectomy/ total removal of the bowels. foul technically" LMFAO! and he has an entire track making fun of outwardly gay people who are overboard about it shit is hilarious though. the only problems i had with it are 1. it could've been longer and 2. there are several amazing tracks but nothing on par with, say, "ALL CAPS." all in all, great album though. it will unfortunately suffer the fate of not living up to it's predecessors and be ridiculed for that though.

Quote (ill) word but maybe it aint your kinda album, like you said illmatic is tainted cos of the r&b sounds you bring up a good point here. Quote (Joker13) WHAAAAAAAAAA? i like the album, i'd even go as far as to call it classic, but it's just not something that i play more often than on occasion. Quote (ill) i think erik said illmatic sounds dated cos of the r&b sounds in the album or some shit? maybe im wrong what i said was that it is trapped in the R&B sound of the 90's, especially with tracks like "Life's A Bitch" (which i FUCKING HATE! ) and that traps the album in 1994. the album defines the 90's, but it is also cursed to being trapped in the 90's. some art lives on thousands of years after it's time. "Illmatic" stays trapped in it's time, giving people an idea of how it was back then. both types of art serve their purpose. Quote (Joker13) yo some of the samples go back to like the 40's ...and? it still sounds R&Bish.
