It is apparent that for quite some time underground hip hop has been far more ground breaking than the mainstream scene for quite some time. This may seem like I'm being obvious and direct, but please bear with me. If hip-hop's legends are upset about their culture's current state, why do they not take initiative against the grating noise that is portrayed as hip hop on the air waves? Less talk and more action is necessary, as actions speak louder than words. I don't care what they do as long as they do something. And truthfully, we cannot fault these pop iconoclasts for their label bosses dictate what ends up becoming the final product and they have very little say on the end result their supposed art. If artists and hip hop heads alike would realize this, maybe we could fix it ourselves. So don't insult the artist, bring down the label, and tell people that if it's put it out by someone like Colipark, Aftermath, Interscope, etc., don't buy it. This will force the market to realize that we will not support the nonsense being shoved down our throats.

it's all music, so in that sense, why categorize it? but then again, when we want to understand what someone may sound like before listening, we categorize it.
