Sam Sneed is a producer and emcee, he was once the right hand man to Dr. Dre co-producing with Dre on Death Row Records between 1994-1996. He originally got his start working as a producer for K-Solo and the Hit Squad, producing most of K-Solo's second LP "Times Up".

In 1993 he was signed to Death Row Records, releasing only one single, U Better Recognize featuring Dr. Dre, in 1994. He became well known for a catchphrase, "My name is Sam Sneed, you better recognize!" which originally appeared in the song Pump Pump which appeared on the Snoop Dogg debut album, Doggystyle. He also appeared in the Death Row movie, Murder Was the Case.[1] The "Murder was the Case" single peaked at #16 on the Billboard Hot Dance Music/Maxi-Singles Sales chart, #18 on the Hot Rap Tracks chart and #48 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart.

Sam Sneed met Dr. Dre through his girlfriend who was baby sitting for Michel'le Dr. Dre's then wife. Sam became what Mel-Man was to to Dre on 2001, co-producing hit songs "Keep Their Heads Ringin' and "Natural Born Killaz" as well as working on Dr. Dre's still unreleased album "The Chronic 2: Pappas Got A Brand New Funk". He recorded an album on Death Row Records with his group Street Scholars in 1996 which included J-Flexx, Sharief, Vance Buford & Stocks McGuire aka Drauma which remains unreleased. The group was to have a bi-coastal sound between east and west, a concept which Dre later used for The Firm supergroup. This was however during the height of the west vs east coast/death row vs bad boy rivalry and the East Coast group led to much tension with other Death Row members.

Sam Sneed Left Death Row not too long after Dr. Dre in 1997.

Sam Sneed went on to produce for others including Capone-N-Noreaga and Jay-Z, however he was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 1999, which put a temporary halt to his career. Sam since recovered and began producing once again an active hip hop producer, In 2003 he began his own label Street Scholars Entertainment. He has since produced songs for the likes of G-Unit, Scarface, Jay-Z, Killah Priest and many others in 2007 Sam Sneed said in an interview he been recently working with Dr. Dre.

originally Death Row didn't credit Sam Sneed with producing this as he had just left the label, on death row's limited release of this nate dogg album it said nate dogg produced it. However Nate released it when he left the label crediting the song to being produced by Sam Sneed.

Hopefully someday we'll hear everything else he produced.
