So this is widely accepted to be true... the whole an mc can be a rapper but a rapper can't be an mc.

Wasn't it krs1 who coined that rule in, and like didn't rapping used to have a completely different meaning back then anyway?

The way I see it is an MC is in it for the culture, a rapper is in it for the money. HOWEVER, that doesn't mean that rappers necessarily make bad music.
