I'd wondered how can the middle class effect the hip hop culture.Up and coming rappers like asher roth, etc are all coming from the suburbs. And from what i heard....They suck. Its funny because, hip hop came from poverty, but now into 30 somthing years later, you start having kids in the suburbs where i live at right now start to talk and dress out of character , and follow everything thats on t.v. all that materlism and maketing bullshit.ITs just not right. The main reason i brung up this topic is because i currently live in the suburbs.I live in Conyers,Georgia, which is about 10 to 15 miles away from Atlanta.55% of the population is white, and i think 33% of the population is black(you could look it up yourself).I love music, music is my life ,but can the the fact that i live in the suburbs affect that in a bad way? Stereotypicaly seeing that, most kids from the subrubs who like hip hop act like fake gangsters. What if some artist i look up to wont accept me when i start doing this music thing as a job...

it does not matter if you are good you are good plus some people that grew in the suburbs ( Lil Wayne ) talk about how they are gansgters or how they lived in bad areas when they grew up in peaceful places the main thing is DON'T lie be yourself if you really have skills thats enough everything else it does not matter

Heh, I don't believe Hip-Hop has got anything to do with people dressing up and acting like they're gangsters when they're not.. I know some rock fans who dress up like that as well and if anything it's got to be commercial rap that's doing it. They're trend followers.. They just follow what's 'hot' right now: "Hey, look at that extremely gay shirt Lil Wayne's got on, oh my I bet if I put that on I'd be getting chicks by the MUTHAFUCKING gallons baby, by the fucking gallons".

Believe it or not, Hip-Hop and what you wear is something that's separate, you can be really into KRS-One or Common while dressing however you feel like dressing, there's nothing that says you have to act exactly like them just be yourself.

Also it's not Hip-Hop that's necessarily effecting the suburbs in a bad way, I believe it's that the rich kids often rebel and maybe that's why they pick up that crap they see on TV, if it wasn't commercial rap it would be something else like punk / heavy metal or what ever. Heavy metal for one had A LOT of men grow hair so long that they could easily pass for being girls. happy

I really doubt anyone will reject you for being from suburbia. You just have to show them your just as good as those other rappers that grew up in struggles.

Because I'm cool like dat. I'm chill like dat. I'm peace like dat.

our people shouldn't be living in ghettos anyways

Agreed. I was happy when I made it out the hood. I love & never forget where I came from but all there was in life there was nothing but a dead end.

I'm just wondering when did coming from the hood became so glorified.

Only god can judge me.

ahh shit i dunno how to word this but basicalyyy look at the difference between people who make hood music and people who make hip hop nowadays, hip hop is a culture im not saying that culture isnt in the hood but its not what theyre rapping about in the hood music. it doesnt matter where youre from you can make hip hop.

i dunno what a good example of hood music is but you know what i mean, like 50 cent and most of the "young", "yung" and "lil"s

yeah i think the whole suburb thing only relates to New York coz the ghetto area's there are the projects and all the rich people moved away from there to the new suburbs.

yes its called the white flight it occurred in the 50's urban decay meant no money so they pushed minorities in such urban decays and cut them economically and that led to the American ghetto's as we know today

We all know that each of our end is near; the question is do we accept the end of our living existence, or do we accept our existence as dead men...

grew in the suburbs ( Lil Wayne )

In lil waynes defense, I have read and heard that he grew up in Hollygrove, which is an urban commmunity located in New Orleans 17th ward.
I am not sure exactly what leads you to beleive Lil Wayne grew up in a suburban community.
Explain.

*Note: I know hes not a real gangster. He shot himself in the chest at age 14 trying to "rob" a mcdonalds.....*

Life's a bitch and I'm just along for the ride.
