Song always makes me tip for a moment Also was on a long ass train ride bumping BIG's "Things Done Changed". The entire song is littered with gems that make you trip. The one that had me trippin most is the last verse "My momma got cancer in her breast, dont ask me why im muthafuckin stressed. shits done changed." Another big verse that I love, dont necessarily agree with its views, but hard none the less: "I'm Hard, Jehovah said i'm barred from the pearly gates/Fuck Him, I didn't wanna go to Heaven anyways/But my momma got me on my knees with my hands gripped/Talkin' bout some Praise The Lord Shit/Hail Mary, Fuck Her i never knew her/I'd probably screw her and dump her body in the sewer." If cats dont say DAMN!! with they fist in front of there mouth than they dont know hip hop. shit has me in awe. Added (07/Dec/09, 0:53 Am) --------------------------------------------- Damn, while typing that I was replaying "Shits Done Changed" and the next track was "Who Shot Ya". Another track that makes you think, did BIG have something to do with Pac (I don't, but when I first heard it thats what I was thinking)? Peace

Quote (abanks47) did BIG have something to do with Pac (I don't, but when I first heard it thats what I was thinking)? Peace Maybe if you rephrased that question I could answer that.. Or did you literally just mean "Did Big have anything to do with Pac?"

naw its just the shit I think about when hearing it, wasn't posing a question. I feel pretty confident Big had nothing to do with it. please answer if you have a different answer though Added (07/Dec/09, 1:41 Pm) --------------------------------------------- another gem that helps when thinking. dude seems to get pretty personal towards the end.

Yo, from total strangers to best friends To best friends to brothers From brothers to never calling him again Their coffins descend, one flies to a place of peace The other Lake of Fire, devils hauling you in As one began one ends, the Earth still spin We're hurt, tears in our shirt, spirit must transcend What you think sleep is for? A deeper cause - preparing us For the other side till the Reaper calls Either or, we're breathing for try a reason Arrived rich but we're leaving poor Stand naked when you see the Lord I stand protected when I see his war Till I exit and I'm free to soar I'm embraced by space, though it's cloudy around me His light weighs from a tree till they wither the brown leaves Bounty's of blessings, from my heavy mind (Heavy Mental) To every rhyme I said, looking from Masada (View from Masada) From the Church of Priest, the dark August (Priesthood + Black August) Till he showed you the art on his Offering (The Offering) Oops, I call it the gift, Behind the Stained Glass It's a frame of my pad, I started this Release the toxins, breathe out the oxygen Now see how shocking you fools if you think the Saint will lose I say things that will make the picture and the paintings move Now after this ink this jewel, look! -Killah Priest; Profits of man I really love the part where he's referring to sleep as a preparation for death (yes i see the similarities with sleep is the cousin of death)

Yeah word, Nas has a few gems. The entire song I gave you power always has me thinking. All time classic for me is "I never sleep, cuz sleep is the cousin of death" Nas has made me think in other ways prior to his Hip hop is dead phase. He's gotten me to want to learn more about his lyrics, and the knowledge he drops in a lot of his songs.

actually i think its "I never sleep, cause sleep is the cause of death". Im not sure he says cousin but yeah, if you listen to illmatic and It was written, you really need to think about his lyrics, which makes him a great lyricist.
