The Lyricist Lounge Show is an American sketch comedy series that aired on MTV from 2000 to 2001 that combined hip-hop music with raps interspersed throughout the sketches. I learned about it when i searched through youtube. I dont know if this topic was made before, but i find this show very cool. Theres not much dvds or videos you will find on for this show, but heres a couple:

Enjoy
Beware: There is 2 albums called The Lyricist Lounge vol. 1 and 2. I have Volume 1, and if you dont, i suggest you get it because it got the best lyrics i have ever heard.

I know what you mean. And it does in a sense. But the nature of hip hop is to not care about what others think and just do you.

LLS came out before 2000. The first compilation came out in 1997. That was my show back in the day man! I was watching it around 1998 until they canceled it. :( Mos Def and Kweli pretty much got their start from this show as did Wordsworth, Saul Williams, Scienz of Life, etc. It also revived the careers of many emcees whose careers were beginning to wane like Kool G Rap. I remember getting the second compilation for xmas from my uncle who got it for free in like 1999, maybe 2000, because he was taking photos for Priority who did the distribution for Rawkus which was the label that both comps were released on.
