i think its a bit of both, i've found out about a lot of dope hip hop artists through the internet, and i probably wouldn't have found them if it wasn't for the internet. but at the same time i know artists like Soulja Boy only ever got famous because of the internet, sometimes i wonder if there were no internet would artists like soulja boy have ever made it big? sometimes i wonder if there were no internet would the current trends in mainstream rap be different or would they be just the same.
i always hear wack artists on myspace thinking they're the next lil wayne or gucci mane etc, and i also hear a lot of haters on myspace thinking they're all lyrical or alternative but actually suck.
maybe the internets good affects on hip hop is worth it though, because more and more people are also finding a lot of dope artist they wouldn't have found otherwise.
