i got nothing against him though but i've never listened to any of his albums and i don't remember saying i liked him.

yeah as far as i know they're all facts anyway,

the last bit was a little racist though but the song is still amazing

notice how the tone of this paints a picture of white people as having something wrong with them. he uses facts here in a way that skews the image of whites to make us seem more than simply an aberration from the common people of that time period and area. the truth is simply that whiteness at the time could only come about through albinism because the extremely hot climate was detrimental to those that lacked pigmentation. of course albinism was, in fact, the genetic mutation that eventually led to the evolution of today's white people in colder climates, and the likely evolution of humanity will lead eventually to the majority of people having a caramel complexion, but the careful and strategic use of terms like "genetic recessive", the description of a pale man walking in the threshold of darkness, and throwing in the fact that Africans thought albinism to be a sin creates an obvious tone that i personally find appalling. also, as you will notice later in the song, i find it hilarious that Ras mentions that Africans saw albinism as sin, then he goes on to talk about a much later point in history which saw the "origins of racism" by which he was referring to that of Hindus wearing white dots being racist against those with black dots, when obviously it was actually black racism against whites in the form of Africans seeing albinism as sin which long predated this.

nice touch here. Ras uses the word "mutants" very strategically. it is, indeed, a fact that a genetic mutation, most likely albinism, led the travelling Africans to evolve into whites as they entered colder climates, however, it must be understood how the word "mutant" is being employed here as a phonetic device to create a specific image in your mind of some sort of beast -- something evil. he further drills this in the listener's head with the next two lines where he calls these people "race haters" and actually calls these people of the Devil (the Devil's alpha to the beta).

basically reinforcing many of the facts i mentioned above.

now here's Ras claiming that while the black men in Africa were ahead in the evolutionary process at this point, as the white men migrated and got paler they were actually "devolving" back into a primate-like state until the black man came back into the picture and with him came more sophisticated things like art. this is, hopefully to most, obvious bullshit.

as i mentioned above. it's funny too because he's trying to equate this with white racism against blacks when the Hindi people were actually mostly very dark and, obviously, still are. they were never a white race.

so now he sets up this elaborate web of philosophical minds and shows how, basically, all white philosophers are frauds and they actually stole all their knowledge from black philosophers. the truth being, of course, that there have been great philosophers of all creeds and colors, even in that time. as he mentioned there were Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, Hippocrates, as well as others such as Epicurus, but there were also Egyptian philosophers who were, at that time in all likelihood, black. there were also great philosophers all over Asian at the time as well, and shortly thereafter (well, hundreds, maybe even close to 1000 years), during what was known as the dark ages in Western civilization, an enlightenment of sorts occurred in the Muslim world, bringing about many great Muslim scientists, mathematicians, and philosophers.

no, Christmas was a holiday first celebrated on a different day (for this reason the Orthodox church, such as the one sodr is a part of, celebrates xmas on January 7th), but because the Romans were mostly Pagans at the time and were forced by the government to convert to Christianity, to avoid a public uprising against the government, at the Council of Nicaea it was decided that Christmas would instead be moved to December 25th so that the former Pagans could continue to celebrate their winter festival (though instead as Jesus' birthday) which was based on the Winter Solstice -- the time of year at which the sun reaches its lowest point in the sky and rests in the southern crux.

no, Thanksgiving was a celebration based on the supposed sharing of resources and cooperation between the pilgrims and the Native Americans. in reality it was a hostile negotiation between the two that lead to the Natives sharing resources with the whites, and the whites further slaughtering the Natives after that day. the pilgrims were negotiating simply because they knew they faced malnutrition if they didn't get proper resources soon and the Natives negotiated because they wanted the pilgrims to stop pillaging them. of course they continued pillaging them, but hey, that's "Western civilization" for you.

albinism wasn't a "race", so when the first humans thought albinism was a sin that wasn't based on a race, albinism can effect any race so this is why he doesn't call these first humans "the first racists"

i personally think ras kass is overrated as hell.

me and prof. boyd dont see eye to eye on many things but i think we are on the same page here.

i always wonder how cats like ras kass view mulattos like my self.

i mean this not to belittle you in any way, but i think that you should study up a bit more on politics, especially outside the US and theoretical politics, at least if you wish to hold political debate. it will broaden your ideological bounds a bit. i don't consider my views to reflect in any way anything that will be implemented at any time in the near future, at least in the US. i hold such views and have such debate because not because i want to fit such radical ideals into current society, but because even though i recognize that i likely won't experience the change i foresee in my lifetime, i want to be one of the people who plants the seeds for the future.

cooperatives aren't utopian though, that's just your stubbornness that prevents you from seeing they are becoming more and more popular around the world and that they work. in fact, living in the bay, i bet you walk past at least one every day.

but that's not relevant to the topic. let's get back on track now
