And this is what i meant about 2Pac being c.r.i.m.i.n.a.l.l.y. overrated.

But yeah, I dont want to post the same songs you guys posted, so i agree with you all.

good point, its definitly opinionated to a degree. i felt the tracks i posted were just a few of pacs great songs and still feel so.

i agree that they are great tracks. out of the ones you posted i would only consider Hail Mary a classic though. i'll explain what i mean about classic later in this comment though so read that before you respond to this lol.

yeah i felt the same, that question was for the most part aimed at eboyd since he felt so strongly that the tracks he posted are classic

it depends on your definition of the term classic. those weren't necessarily my favorite 2pac tracks, they were just ones that i felt were universal classics. when people refer to classics they are usually referring to the opinions of a specific group or individual. i would say that which is classic to an individual -- that which we know as a "personal classic" -- shouldn't be referred to as a classic. it is simply a personal favorite. what matters is the opinion of a large group. all i care about when it comes to calling a hip hop track a classic is the overall opinion of all people, the overall opinion of the hip hop community, and the overall opinion of people whose ears are specifically trained for hip hop music/music in general. the tracks i posted, while they aren't necessarily my favorite 2pac songs, are tracks that all of those groups could agree are his classics. i left out several, but i feel i got my point across.

the thread says great/classic songs, i wanted to try posting some stuff nobody really hears. not so much his singles. that song got my mind made up is definitely classic to me. some of pacs best lyrics, all star lineup especially at the time. and even a inspectah deck verse floating around.

it really depends on who you talk to when it comes to determining which tracks are classics, but in the sense of appeal to the masses, by definition, the stuff no one hears cannot be classic.

btw, the full version of that track (with Inspectah Deck's verse):

What's up with the quality of his verse? It had the potential to be incredibly dope but the quality sort of ruined it.

yeah, i think that's why they cut it. his verse was lyrically the best and his delivery was fucking sick too tho, but the quality is just fucking terrible.

you are the only person saying those songs aren't classics tho. i agree that they weren't tupacs greatest tracks but i did those to show his versatility rapping about different topics and tracks people may not have heard. could it not be argued that the tracks you posted are personal classics as well?

no because those weren't even my personal favorites by him, as i said. and notice, the last one i posted i specifically said was a personal fav. i didn't even call it a classic. those tracks were the ones that he was most famous for but also most respected.

meh, he has a shit ton of classics. nowhere near as many as you are making it seem though. i'm not downing him, but tracks like "Trading War Stories" and "Troublesome 96" (two of my personal favorites by Pac) are only classics to people that really know Pac's work well (i was a stan as a kid. i had all of his released albums and many of his bootlegs). i don't consider their opinion. if we considered the opinion of avid fans then with the case of, say, Tech N9ne fans, "Caribou Lou" would be a classic track.
