i agree with Adam, his style his language, the way he talks etc. reflects some snoop dogg traits also sounds kinda wiggerish but that's how most of us are at the beginning, so i am not coming at ratmn, just pointing out that many of us passed trough such a stage, its natural.

will smith lol its true. and like eboyd said, i was into skateboarding too, and watched videos and mostly heard them from video games. one game came out in 99' called, "Thrasher : Skate and Destroy". these are some of the songs..

award tour by atcq
planet rock by afrika bambaataa
just to get a rep by gangstarr
white lines by grandmaster flash
king of rock by run dmc
rappers delight by sugarhill gang

every song on the game is awesome. i played that game for so long back in the day i'll never forget the lyrics to any of these songs lol. great game too. i got into commercial rap not long after that. infact that was the same year eminem came out. i was into the whole shady/gunit/aftermath. it really wasnt all that bad at first. then i just got so fed up with being let down i went underground and never looked back!

yes! i remember hearing this track specifically in one of the skate videos i watched a lot. the two that stick out specifically in my mind, in fact, are this one and "The Light" by Common. i remember being so used to hearing misogyny in hip hop and this was the first ever hip hop love song i heard. i dedicated it to 3 different girlfriends after that lol.

also, i remember hearing "Off The Record" by Promoe in a skate video. one of the greatest beats i've ever hear to this day and one of the best b-boy breaks to ever be recorded:

since erik posted his life story, here I go..

i remember up until 5th grade I thought hiphop was bullshit and took no talent. I would parade around my classroom bashing anyone who listened to hiphop.
it all started when i was about 7.... kid named seth i was friends with, was the biggest wigger ever. no joke, his dad would dress him to look like fuckin fred durst everyday. he was always listening to this damn song.

i had no idea that THAT was hiphop. i thought it was just a black guy on a mic talkin about bitches. i was a retarded child.
then i got some BMX game for my xbox in like 3rd grade, which introduced me to "Buggin out" by ATCQ and "Moment of Truth" from Gangstarr. i remember nearly immidiatly after hearing "moment of truth", i asked my dad if we could go to best buy to get a gangstarr CD. I asked the sales clerk and he was like "gang what?" and I was like "gangstarr!" and he had no idea what I was talking about.. i had no idea that gangstarr was underground/old school.

From then on, i gave up on hiphop since best buy didn't have the one hiphop group I liked. Then in 5th grade, we moved into a new house, and I found a stash of old ass cassette tapes... A badass band named Cracker was in there, but anyways, I found E.Eternal1999 in there, and I listened to it for literally months. I thought it was like sex music.. had no idea that Bone Thugz was what we call "hiphop". I still thought hiphop sucked. But I bumped this song FOREVER

Then I started getting really into the internet when I made a myspace.. which got me into Tupac. I became a wigger for 2 years, and I would watch 8 mile obsessively (no joke, like once every other day). All I listened to was Biggie, Tupac, eminem, Lil Wayne, soulja boy, etc etc... Shitty radio rap and the really typical 90's rappers like pac and snoop.
Then i came here, right as I was getting out of my wigger phase.
which got me into the real underground.
meh.

Life's a bitch and I'm just along for the ride.

So, we all agree in three things:

1. Once in our lifetime we're wiggers

2. Adam is a hip hop hipster on negation

3. Pie is good

No shit, this was me in 7th grade.

We were living at a place with no cable/internet, in batshit no where, so I really had no way to pass the time except watch movies and play grand theft auto. It just so happened that 8 Mile and San Andreas both had good hiphop in it, so that was the only place I could listen to hiphop. I had no hiphop CD's or anything until I begged my friend to burn me a CD with Hit Em Up, Life Goes On, Hold ya Head, Runnin, Mass Appeal, the san andreas theme song (LMAO), and a few other classic but overplayed tracks...
I didn't think rap battles were even real until I got an internet connection again and started really getting into hiphop. I was ignorant.
