This is gonna be a big list of MC's and groups whom we think would be good to get someone into real hip hop. I'll add to the list every time I think of someone and you guys should suggest some to. This list isn't going to have people like cannibal ox and mf doom, since the average non hip hop listener or wayne fan won't give in to that. So the list should have casual people like mos def and a tribe called quest. Pharcyde A Tribe Called Quest Mos Def Nas Outkast I know theres much more, but I just can't think of something thats really easy to listen to.

I don't mean like literally easy to listen to I mean like a basic start off point for someone getting to hip hop.

I wouldn't reccomend starting off with ATCQ and Pharcyde.. Not radio enough. I personally would try to ease someone in through people they already know, but haven't really listened to.. Tupac, Snoop, Biggie, NWA, maybe some Mos Def, DMX, etc.

Maybe it's just where i'm from but seriously I can't start people off with things like Del and Talib and shit... it's just too different. maybe it's because where I live, there is ALOT more southern influence.. southern rap is the exact OPPOSITE of lyricism (there are exceptions but you know what I mean)

i think only Nas album Illmatic would get someone into real hip hop. i remember i used to think Nas was just some boring ass corny rapper until i listened to Illmatic, but other than that every other song i thought was boring. Nas could never really make a "hit" single coz he never really knew how to work a pop chours that could do well mainstream, yet whats said is thats what he's always tried to do by doing songs with puff daddy, keri hilson etc. so for someone just getting into it they should only check out the illmatic album from nas i'd definitely recommend A Tribe Called Quest, i noticed a lot of hipsters seem to like them which is actually a good thing because most hipsters never listen to hip hop. Rock fans seem to like the song 4th Chamber by Wu-Tang, infact they seem to like Wu-Tangs early stuff my brother hardly ever listens to underground hip hop but when i played Soul Amazing by Blu & Exile, Party Tonight by Black Sheep & Jean Grae & Forever by Mega Ran & K-Murdock he really liked those songs, when i played those songs he asked me where i got them from coz he was amazed he had never heard these songs before yet he liked them ,
