if you type in underground hip hop in google, this is the first thing to come up. i never knew this until yesterday, but theyre from boston and even have a store too. they sell everything they sell on their site and more! i went there with my friends and you can go in the basement or go on a computer and browse the site and theyll find the cds/vinyls for you. once i started browsing they said they were closing soon, so i kind of rushed but whatever. (i got celph titleds 4 disc gatalog for 18 bucks) rappers go there all the time including pharoahe monch who will be there tomorrow! cant wait. any other crazy hip hop stores you guys go to?

I've been thinking about opening one. There was a hipster clothing store that sold them XL pants and giant hoodies, but that was when everyone was walking in that, even those who didn't like hip hop, or even rap... But there is about 10 real hip hop artists to find at the closest record store. They never got what I'm looking for, so I thought I'd do this city favour by getting some of the real flavour. It's extremely risky, but if I find myself with an extra million at hand, I'll do it. I wouldn't even try to make money off of it, just spreading the word without going bankrupt.
I'd have the newest real shit, and if I had the money, I'd do a free mixtape, that the customer could have. I'd have an oldschool part, a golden age part, jazz hip hop part, g-funk part, and a news part. I'd design t-shirts and shit. I could totally see myself doing stuff like that for the next couple of decades...

Soul Clap, Obease Records (all so a label), Skippy, JB HI-FI (NOT actually a hip-hop record shop..
but all most all my cds from people like "apathy, sole, sage francis, etc all come from there).

Before Fat Beats closed I went there a couple of times. My favorite record stores that are still open are Backside Records and Amoeba Records, but there are a shitload here in the LA area like Poobah's in Pasadena and countless others I've never been to. Also, there's this clothing shop near the old Fat Beats that sells bootleg hip hop shit called Selecta.

Bape=Faggot hipster..

Lol nah I'm only kidding.. I hate to say it, but really, hot topic has some kickass punk contemplations and shirts... It's alot easier to just go buy a blackflag shirt at hot topic than it is to print off a stencil, cut it, and paint it.. sure sure sure it's against my anti-corporate stance on most things, but fuck it, sometimes conviencence/logic overrides radical budgeting habits/beliefs.

but yeah, hot topic, and this badass record store named Guestroom Records by my house..Guestroom has a BUNCH of shit most people have never heard of. really nice hole-in-the-wall kind of spot.

Life's a bitch and I'm just along for the ride.
