dry Who said illmatic was "the greatest Hiphop album" cuz if that is a popular opinion then heads should wake up to versitility in Hiphop from day 1 till present ... to say 1 album in Hiphop is the greatest i feel is simply wrong cuz you would be setting a boundry on style and expression .. thats impossible to do .. illmatic is most def. a great album but not in the greatest "wutever" .. NO Hiphop album is in fact .. just opinion in what a great album one may feel is more relevent .
As for my "UNpopular" opinion as i said it many times since my younger days, is that De La Soul is by far some of the most relatable Hiphop realism with bangin style and dope sounds that are untouched by much of Hiphop groups and MCs.

Matt, the "GAOAT" thing is based on what album is agreed upon overall by hip hop heads. That is why Illmatic, though I also disagree, is considered the greatest hip hop album of all time. That being said, that is like calling one of Fats Waller's albums or even a Duke Ellington album the greatest jazz album ever. Sure, it was great, but jazz got MUCH more complex after they were long past their prime and even no longer alive.

Thats a very good point and i agree cuz for the Jazz opinion, i feel it would be even more difficult since Jazz as well as Hiphop is an infinit space of greatness that is just mind boggling to understand all the feeling and set ways of the composers message of or through production... so my point is, for just ONE album to be the"GOAT" is just really difficult for me to get into but i would say a number of Hiphop albums could be concidered to be in the catagory of the "GOAT" .... it needs to be more broken down such as what makes a great Hiphop album from a NON biased standpoint in detail and what are those details based on and how does each element of Hiphop play its role if neccesary in relation to it directly or indirectly ... overall to make it simple i would say a small number of things can make a Hiphop album one of many of the greatest but for growth and positivity to expand beyond what were so used to seeing and hearing in our own heads as the "GOAT" i think it should be carefully thought out. ... In general quick thinking there are many GOAT albums in Hiphop.
... sorry im a little off topic with the unpopular opinion .. just a thought i had on the Nas opinion .. Nas is damn good ... i think most would agree popular or not. LOL biggrin

i thought liyrically was the only way to win a rap beef ...

ll's track just dissed canibus more, and had more aggression. canibus may have had more rhymes but they weren't really dissing ll cool j much.

it's SOOO fucking dated. it reminds me of the stereotypical pop R&B bullshit from back in the early 90's. there were dope R&B tracks back then, no doubt, but i am referring to the ones that were just profitable bullshit. that is what it sounds like. the beat is terrible.

LOL, this is one thing we'll disagree on man.

"Life's A Bitch" is one of my favorite songs off "Illmatic" Just behind "NY State Of Mind", "It Ain't Hard To Tell" & "The World Is Yours".

But to answer the topic question, I just wish ALL opinions here would be respected. One thing I've noticed since I've been here is that certain people seem to clash over little shit IMO. I don't think anyone should be silent on what they feel about certain topics & it's cool to debate but some of the barbs can get a bit outta hand.

Only god can judge me.

i don't get how you think life's a bitch sounds like an r&b or pop song but whatever.
