Quote (MAK_The_Lucid_Tongue) wait, if monkeys evolved into humans, Then why are there still monkeys? These things you don't understand. We didn't come from modern day "monkeys"! We came from a primate ancestor that is also the ancestor of modern day "monkeys." We and modern monkeys branch off from the same stem. That is why they say apes and orangutans are our closest related primate but not our ancestors. Can you explain the various forms of intelligent primates (homosapians, homoerectus, neanderthals, etc.) during the stone age?
We all know that each of our end is near; the question is do we accept the end of our living existence, or do we accept our existence as dead men...

Quote (ShadowFire) religion brings order and morality so i can go punish people for their crimes History suggests this anyway.

The earliest account of Jebus (Tacitus) was 60 years after Jebus supposedly died.

For Sodr. I found this video to summarize a lot of points that are worth considering. Plus I would just like to see your response.

The attitude of these people hints to me that theyre predisposed to disbelieve in anything that has to do with religion...2:51 – 3:07 what is that?? The guy in the video is saying “i feel i have a soul, therefore it exists”...well i don’t really see how that’s flawed – if a soul is just your consciousness and personality, then i would say it exists, the real question is if it exists after death ...i don’t think science can answer that Then they talk about if it does exist (including after death), then god (likely) to exist....well i would say thats obv evidence of the supernatural THEN.. 2:34 – 4:24 : appreciation of life is not stolen away from religious people since they believe life itself is the creation of God...btw don’t you see life, creation, etc at least hinting towards a god(s) ? also the things he mentioned that gives value to one's life will not benefit them when they're dead And then... 4:34 – 6:31: Appeal does not equal truth. Ill also let DSouza respond @ 2:08 - 3:24:: Then he sums it up saying that since religious belief is so ridiculous that it will lead people to kill themselves, religions added this loophole of suicide being a sin ?? Added (27/Nov/09, 8:54 Am) --------------------------------------------- oh...at the very end he says that religious people dont actually believe what they believe, but that they hope its true.... well thats generalizing, but Christians (should) know they are rest secured in the truth. "Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away." nobody of any sense can say something like this, for eg can u imagine Aristotle saying this?

Quote (I_Guy) For Sodr. I found this video to summarize a lot of points that are worth considering. Plus I would just like to see your response. i LOVE the ACA and Atheist Experience! Matt Dillahunty is THE MAN! i watch episodes of that show like every day haha! Quote (sodr2) The attitude of these people hints to me that theyre predisposed to disbelieve in anything that has to do with religion...2:51 – 3:07 what is that?? the host of the show is an ex-Christian who was studying to be an ordained minister and while studying to strengthen his beliefs in order to be able to justify them when questioned the opposite actually happened and he gradually realized that he no longer believed in god. no hostility, he just realized that he no longer believed. he is very much unbiased. he knows both sides of the coin and knows the bible better than most christians because he studied it for years from a christian context. Quote (sodr2) The guy in the video is saying “i feel i have a soul, therefore it exists”...well i don’t really see how that’s flawed it's circular reasoning Quote (sodr2) if a soul is just your consciousness and personality, then i would say it exists, the real question is if it exists after death ok, at least you have defined your idea of the soul. i do not agree with your liberal interpretation of it (soul almost always has a supernatural connotation) but we'll go with this definition. even by this definition we cannot say it exists, at least not definitively separate from the brain and other bodily make-up. check out this wiki page on the philosophy of the mind, this one on the dual-aspect theory, and this one on monism. Quote (sodr2) Then they talk about if it does exist (including after death), then god (likely) to exist....well i would say thats obv evidence of the supernatural you need to make a lot of presumptions to conclude that. Quote (sodr2) don’t you see life, creation, etc at least hinting towards a god(s) no. care to explain how? Quote (sodr2) the things he mentioned that gives value to one's life will not benefit them when they're dead that is the whole point. the idea is to cherish them while you can so that when you do pass away you leave no rock unturned. Quote (sodr2) Appeal does not equal truth. we've been telling theists this for YEARS.

btw, Dinesh D'Souza is an idiot. you can find far better debaters than him for your cause. don't lower yourself to that standard. he's almost as bad a Ray Comfort.
