Dude, most of what happened at G20 was very peaceful, and if I recall correctly, that was another example of plain clothes officers dressing up as black blocs and looting to make anarchists and protesters in general look bad. Police officers have actually been caught doing this so this is no conspiracy theory. It's bullshit.

lolwut? have you watched footage of it? It was complete shit, nothing was accomplished. It made the left looking fucking retarded. People were running through the streets with bricks and makeshift weapons just destroying shit. Tipping cars over, setting buildings on fire (or trying to at least), throwing shit at police, etc. I'm not saying that's bad, I'm just saying that out of the majority of the footage I've seen, this is what most of it is of. These are all firsthand videos too, from protesters in the street.. Not some FOX News shit.
The Seattle G20 protests were a fucking joke in terms of accomplishing anything.

You and your ilk constantly find opportunities to bash established underground artists (in this case Immortal Technique) even when you are in a thread in which their names haven't been mentioned, nor is there any reason to bring them up. Hate on underground artists and go listen to your gay ass pop singers while wearing your pink sweatshirt in the front row of a Beyonce concert all you want, but this bullshit where you guys try your hardest on a website that is named REAL HIP HOP FOREVER, which clearly shows what this website is about, to promote your hipster rap/bubble gum pop singers while at the same time talking nothing but shit about established underground artists and trying to set some sort of new anti-hardcore/serious/intellectual hip hop movement up within our movement, shows me that you are a parasite to this movement. If you want to keep this up, you can leave now. That goes for all of you.

I have never bashed ANY artist out of spite, mainstream or underground, for as long as Ive been a member...And what I said about Immortal Technique was obviously a joke, but if your gonna get butt-hurt about that, idk what to tell you man. I listen to AND respect Immortal Technique so its definately not hate. Just a joke.
But Im not gonna curb ur ethnusiasm, and your little complaining is not going to drive me away from the site for I am doing absolutely nothing wrong, and you can ask ANYBODY that. If anything, your little vaginal inflammation is getting on everybody's nerves, not just mine. So just chill and get off my nuts.

Good. I really don't give a fuck anymore. The forum of this site has gone to absolute shit and doesn't represent hip hop anymore. Luckily this forum doesn't represent how this movement exists from the outside such as on the main page, on Facebook, etc. It's just too bad that there's so much fucking wackness going on here when I used to consider this the main part of the movement. Whatever though. And it's not just here on this thread. It's in every fucking thread. If it was just this thread I'd have known it was a joke. Instead we have threads like "The Lil B Appreciation Thread", another thread where all our community hipsters are praising Dirt Nasty for dissing the underground intellectual/political type rappers and then people like Adam doing their customary Immortal Technique bashing, then 90 percent of recent threads and discussions have been about OFWGKTA, Death Grips, Das Racist, and other hipster shit. Now not all of that is necessarily shitty music, but that's not what this site is about. That isn't the only, or even main representation of hip hop, and much of it can hardly be considered hip hop at all.

Seriously, I'm just sick and tired of this shit at this point. Fuck this site and everyone who ruined it.

This, any activist knows an Agent provocateur when he sees one, i personally know them from their shoes and socks, i will try to find a video from G20 as proof, but not now because I'm not home.

The whole agent provocateur theory concerning the G20 protests (but not ALL protests) is straight from Alex Jones. Look it up.
I discredit anything if it's from Alex Jones. He's fucking nuts.

same as the punkers.. preach about individuality, free minds, tolerance, etc but in truth it is all the exact opposite. it's the exact same thing. hiphop=punk and punk=hiphop. i've grown to love punk while setting the social part of it aside, not that I disagree with all the social values behind punk (like DIY, keep it local, underground, etc) but because i think mixing music genres and social traits, then labeling it with something is just a bad idea. it ends up being a set of rules, and anybody who doesn't follow them is banished and considered a backstabbing piece of shit.

can't you just enjoy the music without attaching all this other shit to it? i don't think it's wrong to be a conscience rapper, or a political punk band, but i don't think artists who label themselves as hiphop should be expected AT ALL to be conscience, intricate, deep, etc. hell NOFX is widely praised as being one of the most legendary punk bands of all time and they didn't do anything seriously political until the early 00's. but alot of older punks shun them (hand in hand with older hiphop traditionalists shunning new rap artists) for being unlike them.
you die when you die, you're gonna die. don't stress it.

You completely missed the point, as do all of you, and that's because none of you understand hip hop. My point is that these groups don't represent hip hop, not because they aren't conscious/political (because if that was the case the entire first wave of hip hop wouldn't be real), but because the majority of them show no regard to the elements of hip hop. If the music didn't have rules it would just be another genre of music, and that's fine, go and start a new musical trend and be innovative, but there are, and always will be, rules you need to follow if you want to call your music a part of X genre. You can bend those rules, and even break some of them, but then you get to a certain point and it's just not that genre anymore. There are sub-genres and cross-genres, etc., but again, you can only go so far with a genre before it's a completely new genre. That said, hip hop is more than just beats and rhymes. You can get very innovative with the genre and still be within the spectrum of hip hop, but it's like saying you like Mexican food because you eat Taco Bell. I hate to break it to you, but Taco Bell is not Mexican food, it's Mexican-based fast food.

Added (26/Oct/11, 7:41 Am)
---------------------------------------------
This morning at 5am over 500 police in riot gear from cities all over central California brutally attacked the Occupy Oakland encampment at 14th & Broadway. The police attacked the peaceful protest with flash grenades, tear gas, and rubber bullets after moving in with armored vehicles. Apparently the media was not allowed in to document this repression, and the police established barricades as far apart as 11th and 17th. Over 70 people were arrested and the camp gear was destroyed and/or stolen by the riot police.

Contact the mayor and tell her what you think of her actions.

Reconvene today at 4pm at the Oakland Library on 14th & Madison. Occupy Oakland is not finished, it has only begun.

This video demonstrates why I feel like peaceful revolution isn't going to do anything. We have the right to bear arms, we have the right to defend ourselves, and the right to revolution. Period, point blank.
"The tree of liberty must be refreshed at times, with the blood of patriots and tyrants." - Thomas Jefferson.
I feel like this is one of those times. The police are going to violently squash these protests to nothing unless the people violently strike back in a big way. That's all there is to it. You can't bring your fists to a gunfight an expect to win. 1 in 1000 times will that work. Ghandi was one of those times. You gotta bring your A game.

I sound redneck as fuck, but I mean seriously, this is bullshit, and people need to strike the fuck back.

If all of these people strike back with violence, you will have the biggest crackdown on activism in all US history, maybe even marshal law will imposed and it will eventually lead to an all out civil war. Violence is relative when it comes to revolutionary praxis, and in this case, violence can't be used because you don't have enough popular support, organizational structure etc. and lets be serious, this isn't a "revolutionary" situation also. The movement is a toned down May 68 like revolt, it might evolve to be as "radical" as May 68, but i doubt it. This kinda relates to a quote by John Steinbeck, who saidl; “Socialism never took root in America because the poor see themselves not as an exploited proletariat but as temporarily embarrassed millionaires.” And this attitude still prevails in the US, and that's why you can't light a revolution. This movement, even if its squashed by the state, can have a positive influence on American society, as those social movements had back in the 60's in the US.
So don't be negative, this is an historical process, what animates society and the evolution of society is this kind of struggle. Read the first line in Chapter I from the "Communist Manifesto", please read it, its a scientific concept. Every struggle, even if its local is part of this scientific evolution. So don't be sad, just try your best and go with the flow, be part of the evolutionary process. I am always in the middle of things, but i don't try to fool myself, i am here to better our condition as human beings, if revolution comes from it, then we achieved our goal, if not, the struggle goes on.

an exploited proletariat

But why should we accept the label "proletariat"? in an ideal society, would there even be a proletariat and a bourgeoisie? i'm kind of opposed to both terms, I just view the working class in America as being the "exploited" rather than a group of certain kinds of people who are exploited, because there are rich people who are exploited here as well.. i mean like erik said in another discussion, i think it was him at least, CEO's make SO much more money than anyone else in the corporation, including high ranking officers... technically, aren't they being exploited as well? it's not just the proletariat, it's everybody, and to me, if a revolution were to occur, it shouldnt be about rich vs poor, it should be about people-who-have-been-fucked vs. the fuckers.

but like I always say, why worry about it? i highly doubt we will go another 1,000 years without blowing ourselves up and ruining our planet, and if our planet is ruined, we can't go anywhere. i do agree that you should try to better the lives of others, but i mean shit... my logical side is like "but why?" because like i said, we're gonna be done within 1000 years anyways, you know?
