Hey everyone!

the staff and members at RHHF are going to begin compiling a top singles chart on a bi-weekly basis starting a week from today (6/26/11). here's how we're going to do this: we will be accepting music submissions on the site, our email, and from facebook for one work week (Monday thru Friday). all submissions must be posted on a site such as soundcloud or bandcamp in MP3 format which allows us to post the audio so that others may listen, as well as being download enabled. when the weekend starts we will no longer accept new singles as the weekend will be voting time. so everyone will vote from Saturday through Sunday and on Monday votes will be counted and the list will be compiled. we will be creating a top 5 on a bi-weekly or monthly basis (still up for debate). that list will remain the same for a week and will be blasted out to our network until that Sunday. in the meantime we will be accepting new submissions which we will aim to post the following Monday and submissions will continue throughout that following period and the process will repeat. the next five highest ranked tracks from the previous week will be automatically submitted for voting on the next week's list. tracks that have already made the list the previous week will not be allowed for re-submission. artists or their reps cannot vote for their own songs. by the end of the year, all songs that made the list will be re-submitted and a top ten of the year list will be compiled.

so if you are an artist or represent one and you think you have a single that has what it takes to make the list, start your submissions!

i'm making a note for it now on facebook..and taking a bit longer because i'm also adding a small bio if its available and all their contacts, websites,bandcamps..ect...then i'm adding this same note on the mainpage then promoting it....i think i'm also adding these five tracks on soundcloud to make it easier to embed and share around fb and twitter..as a playlist or individuals...

I think we can plan for the next list but we need to keep this list up for a little bit and plan for the next one while we continue to promote the current list. I'd say a month for each list will be ideal. Also, we need to make it clear this next time for each contestant that their submissions must be mp3, must include a link to a site like soundcloud or bandcamp that we can use in the audio code on this site so we can embed them or a direct embed code that actually works on this site, and they must be downloadable from that site. What sites allow for all that with us? We will let everyone know what are acceptable once we figure it out. I think once we have all the plans for it laid out and do all the promotion we need we can begin on compiling a second list, and I'd say have that out by the first of next month.

to be honest i'd be more interested if it involved big underground names

Let me put it this way: people here are too damn lazy to do it every week. We didn't get enough votes and submissions for the last list to get it finished in that time frame. The most often we could possibly do it is every 2 weeks. Also, doing it as often as you want to do it takes away from the importance of the list. In other words, if there is a new list every week, being on the list loses value for the artists who are on it. We don't want that. I'd personally rather do it on a monthly basis and maybe compile a list of the years' best at the end of the year where all the previous months' top 5 get re-submitted and everyone decides their overall favorites.

No man, that negates the whole point of the list. I mean as it is you can see that people will vote for a song even if it simply has a famous feature, regardless of how good the song actually is. Imagine if it was like "Aru Navi vs. Canibus feat. K-Rino, vs. Del The Funkee Homosapien, etc." It's obvious who is going to win, regardless of which song is better. The point isn't to decide what our favorite songs of the year are, it is to get unknown artists involve with our movement by helping promote their music. We do too many things already that may be fun but do absolutely nothing to promote the expansion of this site. Your top albums list, for example, is great and fun, but it does little more that give us a fun activity to do. It may draw a few people in, but not many and that isn't its main function.

so basically our group of people are hypocrites. We should make an effort to fix the incredible ignorance in the real hip hop and underground scene.

Constructive comments please. If you have nothing to add to this thread, either don't post or try to think of something more useful to say.

Exactly. IMHO that song ft. canibus wasnt that good, but i feel people voted for it just because it had canibus on it.

Don't get me wrong, it was a decent song, it just wasn't top 5 out of all those tracks. There were a lot of dope tracks posted.

i understand the reasons behind it, i'm just saying i don't think people are going to be interested in it which is why it got hardly any votes, because noone can be bothered checking out a whole list of people they've never heard of, people are too lazy for that. keep going with the idea i'm not saying don't do it, i'm just not convinced that many people are going to be interested in it. also the longer this list, the less likely it is that people will bother checking the songs out

i understand what you mean. i think that as we go along with it more people will show interest. as it is i was hardly disappointed in the amount of votes we got. i'm wondering if there's something we can do to make the tracks more accessible, like put little 15 second snippets of each song on a play list with an intro to each song before or maybe even just put them in a specific order and have a space between each track then have it listed in a comment or something and an audio player or link for each track they wish to listen to in full.

yeah, i get the feeling a lot of people didnt vote because they didnt want to take the time to download a song from rapidshare by an artist they've never heard of.
