So I just joined this site and wanted to share some of my shit and see if any of you out there dig it.

My three best that I've done so far, two with instrumentals I swooped from some Danny Breaks albums I have and one original that my friend made me

http://soundcloud.com/doobilicious/king-goo-space-your-face
http://soundcloud.com/doobilicious/odyssey
http://soundcloud.com/doobilicious/king-goo-hmmm

I've been rapping for about a year and a half so I'm pretty amateur, in the past few months I feel like i've finally gotten decent though. Let me know what you guys think, i don't worry too much about producing or mixing so these are rough, I'm much more interested in criticsm on my flow/lyrics and all that jazz

i'm liking the choices of instrumentals for sure, and for someone who has been rapping for such a short time you are pretty damn good! you definitely have some room to grow, but your lyrics are damn good and your flow and delivery are a lot better than many people who i know that try to rap and have been doing so a lot longer than you do.

you can check my music here and, if you enjoy it, purchase my album as well:

btw, if you don't mind me asking, what area do you live in? i'm asking because i like to collab with people in person because it's a lot harder to do online and i was thinking that maybe we can collab some time.

oh, and welcome to the site!

Forsure man and I dug your album quite a bit. You have a sweet style. Who Am I? stood out to me the most, beat and flow is really catchy on that one. That sample hella reminds me of Wu-Tang's "Tearz". Good shit man. I'd buy it if I wasn't a lazy stoner with no money :p

haha no doubt. word man, thanks for checking it. even if you can't support financially, getting my music out to as many ears as possible is the key. show it to your friends, family, etc., if you can and that will help me out even more. eventually hopefully we can collab too, but i would want to get the recording quality a bit better from you first. what recording equipment do you use btw (both hardware and software)?

pro tools with an mbox mini 2. Use an MXL v900 condenser mic (http://www.mxlmics.com/products/900_series/V900/V900.html) with a pop filter for the actual recording. I think the sound quality itself is fine, I don't know much about mixing or mastering so I don't really bother doing anything to my tracks besides some basic reverb and de-esser stuff, which is why it sounds kinda raw and more of a demo track quality

yeah, it sounds pretty decent. from the quality of the recording i assumed you were using decent equipment but just didn't know much about mastering. if we were to collab i would just ask you to send me a reference version of your verse over the beat, a raw file of your verse with dubs, a raw file without dubs, and a raw of just the dubs. trust me though man, if you want to make this something more than just a hobby -- and i think you have the talent to do so -- i would invest some time into learning how to mix and master a little bit. it's really not that hard anyways and if you need any help you can ask me. trust me, my boys work with some pretty major artists and some of the biggest advice they give me, even from an underground perspective, is that it doesn't matter how dope you are lyrically, in terms of your flow, delivery, your choice of beats, etc., if you can't get your music mixed down well.

yeah I've been taking some classes at college and stuff. Was originally gonna go into sound engineering as a career but in the past quarter I've decided against it just because all the technical stuff bores me to death and I could never do that every day.

no doubt. yeah, i took a semester of digital audio design just to learn the basics of pro tools but i've actually learned more working with the artists i know. it's a lot easier to learn when you have guys who already know the technical details and how they function best specifically in relation to hip hop music.

That's pretty sweet man, your production is sick. Does a lot of collaboration between forum members happen around here?
